Posted February 8, 200718 yr I got hold of The Twang's debut EP last night, and I'm off to see them really soon on their first UK tour. Anyone else have an opinion on them? I'd say they're close to recreating the sound of the Mondays / Roses / Flowered Up, but are possibly only as good as Paris Angels at the moment, but by having a genuine Oasis-like swagger (not a put-on Kasabian type one) they should be a hoot in interviews. Really like what I hear so far, just hope they don't get ruined by hype.
February 9, 200718 yr I really like the single, only thing I've heard. Though they were 2nd (I think) in BBC Sound of 2007 so they will be overhyped...
February 12, 200718 yr I'd say they're close to recreating the sound of the Mondays / Roses / Flowered Up, but are possibly only as good as Paris Angels at the moment, Paris Angels??? who are they? are they supposed to be like a b-list indie band or further down from that? are they like marion or northside, (who are around at the moment) in level of success?? (well in that kinda should have been massive as they were onto something but for some reason didnt happen,)
February 12, 200718 yr Author Yes, nail on the head there about Paris Angels - they were a Marion / Northside sized band (top 40 hits if they're lucky) But I mean The Twang's songs sound as good as Paris Angels to me at the moment...actually they're probably getting close to as good as The Inspiral Carpets now! Which means they should draw in to be as good as the Happy Mondays by the time the album is out :D

February 13, 200718 yr Author Nope, neither Paris Angels, Marion, Northside or Inspiral Carpets* are around now. * - Unless a festival organiser is sending them a cheque soon.
February 13, 200718 yr Nope, neither Paris Angels, Marion, Northside or Inspiral Carpets* are around now. both Northside and Marion have recently been on tour and played gigs recently. this is why i know of them. couldnt tell you how any of the song go http://www.myspace.com/marionuk About Marion At the beginning of this year, it came to light that Jaime Harding and Phil Cunningham were working together again on new songs, and planned to play a gig in Bath on 1st April. This news came from a friend of the band, Carl Jackson, who was working with on the new material and helping sort out the gig. Recruiting Jack Mitchell from Haven on drums, Jake Evans from Rambo & Leroy and Che Hargreaves on guitar and bass respectively they played a successful gig at the Green Park Tavern in Bath, the set featuring a selection of Marion classics and brand new songs! Now, with more gigs coming up before the end of the year, new songs coming thick and fast, and the new band members settling in, there is a huge sense of optimism and excite surrounding Marion. *Taken from www.themarionarchives.co.uk*
February 13, 200718 yr Author Ha, well there you go then. I knew Dermo from Northside was DJing just now but not that the band were still going. Paris Angels almost certainly aren't anyway :D
February 13, 200718 yr Ha, well there you go then. I knew Dermo from Northside was DJing just now but not that the band were still going. probably someone showed them a lot of money to reform, which is normally the case. probs will end up playing random town halls in offbeat places again soon. see back of uncut for details perhaps
February 13, 200718 yr Author Someone offered Northside a lot of money to reform!?!? Ha ha ha, that's priceless!
