Perhaps it comes down that i put always the music on the first place. The main reason i didn't give 2 cents on TT the first time is because they selled through image more than through their music (i was that kind of teen without posters on the wall, i listened Janis Joplin, you got the picture ). And i start to have the feeling that it turns to that punct again where they will do anything to please the publicum instead of pursuing the quality music path. Like: give the Caesar what belongs to Caesar...

I think the choice of the second single will tell me if i am right. Already the first single put very big question mark....

Second: I start to hate TT-forums and the discussion there. When the pants are more important as the music, starts to annoy me. Seldom is really a discussion about the music but on who fancy whom and how good someone looks, etc. Not the artistic quality is important, but the looks . Everytime when i ask something not related to the looks I get ignored, which it means that 80% at least. It nerves me to speak with walls. It gives me the feeling of cliques where i don't belong and been keeped outside (that is the childish aspect  ).

I may forget one thing or twenty, but i will stop now. I am that stereothype of latin human being, which boils over when annoyed :teresa: :teresa: :teresa: ...

Oh yeah, i am sure i explained everything very badly  . I really think i should make a pause from official TT forum.... A very big one ....

Well to be honest ... I'm not over fond of the official site (TTTV?) It is very, very cliquey! I try only to post chart information or any news / reviews - but I think I'm the most ignored person there! Has anyone been nasty to you (because they have with me) closing posts with no reason. When I post chart information - no-one replies but a few posts later someone else has posted the news (that I informed them of first) and there are rounds of applause! There are a few of them OK over there (but my favourite person there stopped posting ages ago - don't know what happened to her). A lot of them there are a bit daft to be honest!

That's why I like BJ - I can post about Take That and the music (also - there are blokes here - the other TT sites are mainly women - and as you point out - they're just talking about looks and everything!) Here it is largely about the music and the camaraderie of the group itself. Plus - you can go to other boards and talk about other things than Take That.

The other thing that gets my goat - is when people praise absolutely EVERYTHING they do ... they do make mistakes like any other group. For instance the song Gary wrote for John Barrowman - people are waxing lyrical about how great it is - and it isn't - if I'm honest - its awful! I'm sure Gary thinks its awful too! The fans on the other boards can't take criticism about Take That ... whereas they can here! And I'll tell you what - the thing that annoys me most is the multiple downloading and people seem to brag about it! Now I know for certain that Jason would just think they were crazy!

Don't go off Take That though ... its not their fault that some of their fans are mad!

Norma

well i dont visit the take that forum and i really dont think il bother,,take that forum here is great and woul dbe greater if we had a few more members like ourselves but here we can ta;k about everything even though sometimes ye do ramble on about sexy jason!!!!but i will forgive ye!!! but to be serious here we discuss everything from quality of songs sales stong tracks concerts etc and its enjoyable and everyone is nice here in our little forum

The thing is some Take That fans have been fans for YEARS - like since 1990 - so you cant blame them for being obsessed. Im obsessed with Jason - but I LOVE the music too.

Dont visit the official - visit us here instead :)

i was a fan when they were around the first time(showing my age now) although i think there music is better now than then but it was the music i liked so i neve rbothered with fan sites etc as usually it would be girls banging on about ho ethey fancied the lads

Thank you everybody for your kind words!

My anger is still there, i even haven't pre-order the CD  . Probably i will buy it (damn, i still like the music on it  ), but if the things are going in the direction i think they're going, i will go right away! The second single, and the way they are doing it, may give the final knock  .

I didn't understand till yet how can someone complain on getting off from McFly because of their fans and their art to choose / promote the singles. Well, now I understand  .

Norma, you are right with the off. TT forum. There were some very fine people there, whom wit and opinion i loved it. But they are somehow gone ....Here on BJ like also that i can say my opinion like it is, without making someone angry  . TT are (still :P ) no Beatles, and even Beatles has done a large amount of mistakes.

There'll never be another Beatles! They were a one-off! Their influence on music and the songs that they made are still more memorable than anything from anyone else who has come along. ELO come close ... but even they don't do it!

Norma

Even ELO don't come close ... very few people outside UK would know who they are. If i have to choose the second influencial would be (hihi) Nirvana :P . Because that is the time when MTV went indie, and everything must be indie and pop was out and indie was cool  .

In my country, as i was a teen, the boys have no problem to dress exactly like someone in a boyband and good dancing was a requirement for a boy to be cool in front of the girls. OK, i am sure none of them would have said that they hear TT or NKOTB at home, but i am pretty sure they did  . And than comes Nirvana and the rap

I think you'll find you're wrong about people outside the UK not knowing about ELO. ELO had a MASSIVE following in the States in the 1970's. Come to think of it - they were actually more recognised in the States before they had a following in the UK and The Night The Lights Went Out on Long Beach is one of my favourite live albums ever ... their version of Day Tripper is the best!

I don't really get it with Nirvana ... to be honest. I think Cobain's tragic early death has deepened the mystery and wonder about them - had he lived - I doubt they'd be the enigma they have become.

If you take Germany, hardly one from the young generations has heard about ELO. It is also not played in radio.

Nirvana was the turning -point from pop to indie (people may say that it was Oasis...nehhh :teresa: ). Hardly overrated (ok, i like them , but they are still hardly overrated - give me anydays The Doors instead). Isn't it funny that the song i like most -- Tha man who sold the world - is a cover :naughty: ?

I think from music, no one mathces the influence of Beatles. They are really a source till today after soo many generations and the sound is still fresh (loving my Beatles  ). ELO was for the 80's very important but today only UK knows to take what was best from them (*ahem* take Shine).

I totally understand the influence of the Beatles but personnally im not a huge fan,,i do like some of their material but for me some of theri materail was rubbish also,i understand the impact they made and like wise with elvis but again elvis im not a huge fan of either ive a greatest hits by both artists and thats prob all i will ever buy however for anyone who would think the beatles had no influence on music etc must be crazy

Surely the turning point from pop to Indie happened way before Nirvana though - and yes - I'd put bands like Oasis ahead of Nirvana. As I said Curt Cobain's early death has had much to do with Nirvana's legacy.

I don't think Shine is the best that Take That has done though! It hasn't sold nearly as many copies as either Patience or RTW (Patience is still my favourite of this version of TT - with BFG my favourite from the first time). I think Take That are a very 'British' phenomenon and I doubt they'll try to make any serious in-roads in countries outside of the UK - they'll never really be popular in Germany and I think half the people in the Netherlands still don't even know they've got back together again! If they get success along the way ... I'm sure they'd be pleased - but I can't see them making a full-on assault on Europe like they did when they were younger - age catches up with everyone ... even Take That.

I wish more people would post in here - with a little effort we can get up to 15,300 tonight (I think this is the busiest night we've had on the TT forum for a long while).

I actually was saying that Nirvana made a bigger impact on changing of the music taste publicum as Oasis, apart from quality of their music (which i don't try to compare). Oasis is also a very british band, they are looked as something cool in Germany, but they are not loved as Nirvana was.

Actually i love Shine, my little bring-me-back-the-good-mood song. This is a song i heard one day when i was really really down, and make me smile and after that i was looking at least one week everywhere who is singing it. That was a surprise to hear Take That :naughty: .

(Go us! But i think we are one of the most active group forum on here. The Razorlicht is quite dead, the U2 one also).
