I was youtubing to see if anyone had put up UAN there yet and I came across this! I'd seen it before ... but do you think Gary could have had any idea of the fantastic (and sustained) reception they've had when he was doing this interview. He looks so down (and to be honest - I wasn't sure if he had either had a stroke or was on some anti-depressents - watch his face). I bet when he was playing that keyboard singing Back for Good ... he had no idea the lead man from one of the biggest bands in the world would invite him on stage to sing it ... let alone to follow it with an encore that included Bono!

Wow. I don't know if he was on anti-depressants there or not but it sounded like he needed them. Thank goodness they got back together. They have so many new fans since the comeback - me included.

That was long, long before they even considered a comeback. I think that was even before he got married (he married in 2000). This was about the time the press (and Robbie Williams) were slagging him off 24/7! And I'm certain he was on prescription drugs or something ... his speech is slurred and the right side of his mouth seems to droop a bit.

i would say that was the era of smoking dope and prescribed medicines

Gary isn't the sort of person who takes prescribed medicines for the fun of it though - or because its 'trendy' (like some other artists) - I think he'd only take them if he absolutely needed them. I think the press and Rob drove him demented! Glad he's on top now though. Well I suppose its a nice bit of Karma - Gary on stage now with Bono, Brandon Flowers and Chris Martin (especially at the invite of Martin) after Rob gloating after he himself swanned around with the Gallaghers all those years back. Having said that ... when you see those old photos - Liam looks positively embarrassed and Noel is, quite rightly, nowhere to be seen!

gary went through hell there and prescribed medicines would have been genuainly used and for medical help,,but its funny how things change and as you said gary is now one of coolest and most sought after person in the music buisiness right now,who would have ever though that even 5 years ago
Apparently French radios have just received the "Patience" promo cd, is their label planning on a French release or something ??

I don't think so. I think it'd be a bit late for it now ... are you sure you've not just got hold of an old newspaper or something? They never were very popular in France even the first time round - but then again ... that would probably be an advantage to them as it wouldn't look on them as 'that boy band' as they are still looked on in places like Belgium and the Netherlands.

Be nice if it were true ... but as I say ... they've missed the boat a bit in France.

Are you getting ready to keep tracks on Kimberley & Cheryl? Remember there is a documentary on the climb on BBC the night before Comic Relief Night.

Norma

I read it today on chartsinfrance.net, which is like the #1 website for music online.

It already happened before though, I remember Daniel Bedingfield releasing "If you're not the one" in France at the very same time than his sister's "These words", while they were released with a 2 or 3 year gap in the UK

Thanks for that Harve. I've had a look ... someone on GBTT translated for me ... it has been handed as a promo. Don't suppose anything will come of it though ... I can't see them ever being popular outside the UK and Ireland (Germany is their biggest audience outside the UK and it is just a small faithful who still support them). I know its selfish - but it means there's more to go round at home!

Norma

I'm not Harve

I always get you two mixed up! Sorry Bill!

thats strange for frnace, like patience is 3 years old and it would be weird to see it getting new chart positions now

I'm back again...Spain is great!!! Why why why, i must work work work tomorrow? ( Norma the last phrase was for you with dedication from me :naughty: :teresa: ).

I going to bed after making a short survey of what happening in TT and music world. I love UAN live at Ant and Dec and the new Depeche Mode single!

Is the mystery solved if TT mimed at the Brits?

The Brits PR people say they didn't but I'd say they mimed the last bit (when the spaceship thing touched down). The first half certainly seemed live as there were a few duff moments. It would be difficult however for pick-up with the constant moving of that thing they were on. Besides ... if they were ... I'm not that certain it mattered - I'm quite certain the Pet Shop Boys mimed the first half of their act ... they were still brilliant!

Norma

i think the same about the pet shop boys they definity mimed parts and i think take that did the same, but for me i know both acts can deliver the goods live so im not to bothered its people like britney who never ever ever sing live that annoy me
Oops. How did I end up here...

Take the mask off Angelic! And have a nice cup of tea!
