Posted April 11, 200619 yr I started reading it again today. I know it's not meant to be an autobiography and the first chapter is just there to reveal some of the early events which helped to make Darius tick and shaped his personality, but I'm always moved by that chapter, no matter how often I've read it before. He called it Rushes! Edited April 11, 200619 yr by Baytree
April 11, 200619 yr Awwww you should penny, Its quite moving in places :( and you certainly are taken on the roller coaster ride that is 'Mr D's life'.
April 11, 200619 yr I've never read it :( It's a good read....explains quite a few things. Do You have a copy? If not they keep coming up on ebay...... :)
April 11, 200619 yr Book signing Manchester August 2003....you can just spot his head well baseball cap :D http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v78/1PamP/booksigning.jpg
April 11, 200619 yr Author I like Sink or Swim because D wrote it himself and I can practically hear him saying the words. It reads like he speaks when he gets into his rhythm and I like the way he's really thought about it and tied it all in with some of the themes that I personally see running through Dive In. Darius being Darius there's also a lot to think about and inspiration. The fabulous photos are a nice bonus. Secret Song posted Dare Devil Darius pics in the gallery. There are some crackers here too.
April 12, 200619 yr Its an inspirational book for anyone who has been bullied, felt stupid or has done something that they initially felt ashamed of I went through a huge crisis of confidence in September 2003 and it was this book that pulled me out of it. If more people read this book they would understand what makes MY pop idol tick and why all of us here love him to bits. i like the way he explains how he felt about being in Pop Idol and why he didnt want to win. I often wonder now what would have happened if he had Anyway .... if you havent read it ... do so. For fans its a must and for those undecided or anti, it will open your eyes
April 12, 200619 yr it is a touching book, and like Baytree I love the way it is written, so obviously by Darius - it has that slightly eccentric turn of phrase and imagry that Darius has with words and you really do feel as if he is talking to you as you read it. I did find bits of it inspiring(the bullying)and very sad at the same time. I also found parts very interesting and insightful, things I didn't realise that happened behind the scenes so to speak. I also love the various photos through out, they are lovely.
April 15, 200619 yr Author I have to confess I really don't like the photo on the front cover much and that is true of the two album covers too. I wonder why they always choose pictures that don't reflect D's personality at all. In every case whoever chose it has had a fair selection of cracking pictures to choose from. Just look at the pictures Secret Song uploaded into the gallery here, either of them would have made a much more striking album cover for Live Twice. My favourite pic from Sink or Swim is the one on page 48 - my book falls open there every time.
April 15, 200619 yr Page 48 is delicious- I also love page 52  I haven't read this from cover to cover, but have dipped into it. I love the passage where Darius reveals his spiritual side and how he believes in the power of prayer and meditaton. Edited April 15, 200619 yr by Madame Cholet

April 15, 200619 yr Quote from pombear - I also have a copy in our guest bedroom for them to read when they stay . What a good idea, perhaps it should be placed in all doctors and dentists waiting rooms, would give them strength!
April 15, 200619 yr I wonder if the local library has a copy? I put a suggestion in once about a book and they responded saying they had ordered it I might try the same thing again ;)
