Aguilera has been a spokesperson for the issue for a long time, incorporating it into songs on her latest album. "As much as I do talk about it being feel good music, there is a lot of sadness", Christina said. "In blues it originates from pain. To me there is beauty in that. I do not shy away from what a lot of people consider dark music. I do talk openly about my past and what I have been through, abuse being something that was very real in my household." The singer and her mother suffered abuse from Christina's father when she was growing up, and believes that the issue should be talked about. "I think it is important to open yourself up to your audience. The kind of people that I really enjoy as artists and songwriters are people who put themselves on the line and start to feel things. To me, music is about that." Aguilera said. "The topic (domestic violence) is such a hush hush thing. People don't like to talk about it." Christina is currently getting set to begin her 2007 tour, beginning in the States on February 20, supported by the Pussycat Dolls and Danity Kane.
