Posted February 12, 200718 yr One of the most admired and frustrating bands of the last 25 years, they provoke a fervour which bands selling 10 times as many albums would kill for. Drawing heavily on angular melody, pure pop psychedelic, rural folk, and straight-ahead 60’s beat, XTC combine a love of all things English. Hits like Making plans for Nigel, Generals and majors, Towers of London, Sgt Rock is going to help me and Senses working overtime. On the verge of world success lead singer Andy Partridge took stage fright, walking of stage during a concert. Although they stayed together they never achieved anymore commercial success to match the early days. Today we can hear their sounds in the bands of today, Kaiser Chiefs, The Feeling etc.
