Posted February 15, 200718 yr Singer Robbie williams will take a cut of all profits from future merchandise branded with the name 'TAKE THAT', because he has given his former bandmates his consent to apply for a trademark for use on a large range of goods including CDs, films, video games, stationary and clothing. :o
February 15, 200718 yr I highly doubt he will get profits from anything that does'nt have his name on it. Obviously he gets money from albums/singles that he featured on when he was in the band, but I would find it a little too hard to believe that he gets money from Beautiful World and their singles. I mean he's signed to a completelly different record company and has nothing to do with their current material.
February 15, 200718 yr Author I just report the news. But i suppose he was a member of 'Take That'
February 15, 200718 yr I just report the news. But i suppose he was a member of 'Take That'  Yep he was so should obviously get royalties from their older albums and singles etc, but certainly not now. Seems a bit strange.
February 15, 200718 yr I just report the news. But i suppose he was a member of 'Take That'  but there are a lot of groups in that situation so they can't all have to pay off old bandmembers for new releases
February 15, 200718 yr Author precisely erm.... brian mcfadden didn't get any money from westlifes merchandise :D
February 15, 200718 yr precisely erm.... brian mcfadden didn't get any money from westlifes merchandise :D Yes, but in that instance the manager (Louis Walsh) owns the brand name Westlife. The Sugababes are in the same situation with their manager (Cameron McVey? = Neneh Cherry's husband) owning the name, so you could theoretically have a different line up with none of the original members in it. Likewise the same thing happened with Steps (co-manager Pete Waterman) & S Club 7 (Simon Fuller). In all of the above instances it means that the band's individual members make NO money from advertising products or merchandise (hence why H from Steps & Jo from S Club 7 were so skint that they each took £50,000 to appear on this year's CBB). The ownership of the Band's name has led to many a former act to have rival members fight over the right to use the Band's name (the most famous example being Pink Floyd). The deal that the five original members of Take That have struck is that if 3 of the original line up want to carry on then they have the right to perform under the name Take That, but that the other (minority) members are entitled to a cut of the royalties including from touring and merchandise, hence Robbie does get a share of the profits of the band that he contributed to making famous in the first place. Which in my view is right and proper.
February 15, 200718 yr im almost sure when robbie left take that years ago and it wentto court he has no claom to anythinig of take that meaning no royaltues etc
February 15, 200718 yr Right and proper indeed..sweet justice after Nigel Martin Smith has taken a percentage of Robbie's solo earnings right up until 2006. I bet you didn't know that did you..so what is good for one, turns around, and you don't think thats fair. I do. Robbie has been taking a small percentage of TT in royalties over the years, its just got a bit more now. Edited February 15, 200718 yr by Susie
February 16, 200718 yr Right and proper indeed..sweet justice after Nigel Martin Smith has taken a percentage of Robbie's solo earnings right up until 2006. I bet you didn't know that did you..so what is good for one, turns around, and you don't think thats fair. I do. Robbie has been taking a small percentage of TT in royalties over the years, its just got a bit more now. I knew that from reading Gary Barlow's biography, as their former manager was entitled to a percentage of ALL five members solo earnings, it is just that for obvious reasons that he made the most out of Robbie. It is one of the reasons why Take That did not reform and sign a new record deal until after this deal had lapsed.
February 16, 200718 yr Thanks thisispop, I didn't know TT were so cunning, poor Robbie ripped off for all those years, no wonder he is bitter. Is that the reason why they fired NMS then?
