I don't think there is a topic about this, so I'll start one. I was wondering if anyone heard these Celtic Woman covers and what people thought of them. I think they are as follows:

 

Clannad: Newgrange, Dulaman, Harry's Game, Siuil A Run (I think there's one more..)

 

Enya: May It Be, Orinoco Flow, (I Dreamt I Dwelt In) Marble Halls

I really like their covers of Clannad's songs, especially Newgrange, though I thought I wouldn't. B) But I don't much like their covers of Enya's. Enya just does May It Be sooo much better than anyone else ever could. Their cover of Orinoco Flow is ok, but it's nowhere near as good as Enya's. It lacks spirit somehow. Marble Halls I only heard once, so I don't know about it. I think I liked it at the time. But I guess it's not technically Enya's, since it's from an opera (The Bohemian Girl, isn't it? :unsure: ).

I think the cover of Orinoco Flow they do is not good..and May It Be, I agree..Enya does it best. :wub: I just don't think Enya covers work well because nobody does it in the fashion that Enya does. I love their Clannad covers, though. :wub: Siuil A Run is one of my favorites.

Mine too. It suits Orla's voice very well. B)

 

You're right, Enya writes her songs to suit her voice and the way she makes her music, which is a very long process. It can't be reproduced in nearly as nice a sounding performance by anybody else.

Don't they have ab album in the American charts atm? I've heard a couple of other covers of May It Be - they are good, but not a patch on Enya. :wub:

I have no idea if they have an album here in the charts or not.. :unsure:

I think their newest album "A New Journey" went up to #4 on the Billboard Top 200 charts. I don't know if they're still in the same position there or not.

That's pretty good..it has probably taken a fall by now, though.

Does anyone have Mairead's solo album? I love it! :wub: Or any of the other solo albums, for that matter.

The only solo album(s) I don't have are from Hayley. She just doesn't pique my interest, but, that's not to say she isn't a good singer, anyhow.I have the solo stuff from Orlagh, Lisa, Meav, Mairead, and Chloe, and they all have songs I like very much. I't not hard for me to find extra copies of their solo stuff, as I can easily pick it up at a Borders Books and Music...

Hayley doesn't interest me..I don't think she fits in with CW very well.

I think she could have fit in well, but they've given her only operatic songs to sing, which aren't exactly "Celtic". I guess Scarborough Fair is kind of Celtic, but it seems to me they should have given her less of the "Laschia Ch'io Pianga" stuff. -_- She has a gorgeous voice, though. B)

I really dislike the song Laschia Ch'io Pianga.. :puke2: Her version of Scarborough Fair is okay, though.

I should be getting Chloe's solo CD soon..now I only need two: Lisa and Meav.

Ooh, that should be nice listening. She's opera, but not too opera, if you know what I mean. Her voice is very clear and nice. B)

I think Chloe's voice sounds really fragile.
