February 18, 200718 yr Chartifacts (Thanks to Gavin Ryan) Hinder remain at the top of the Australian Charts for a fifth week, and last week I forgot to mention that the single "Lips of an Angel" was certified for Gold Sales Status. Their album also debuts this week, but more of that in the albums section. The single also bullets from No.39 to No.1 in New Zealand this week. One group has three big movers this week, that being The Fray. Their album which I've mentioned below is one of those, but their debut single "Over My Head (Cable Car) jumps from 36 to 22 (now in it's 27 week of charting), and become this week's biggest climber within the Top 50. It also re-peaks at No.22, a feat which it originally achieved back in October 2006. Their follow-up single "How to Save a Life" is the second biggest climber within the Top 10 this week, moving from No.7 to No.2, and thus making the Top 2 Singles both Rock orientated. But making 3 out of the Top 5 Rockier is Fall Out Boy who are at No.4 (up from 10) with their debut Australian single "This is Ain't a Scene, it's an Arms Race". This single is also No.4 in the UK and US this week, and the song also helps give Universal Music four out of the Top 5 singles this week. There are no new entries to the Top 50 Singles this week, so I thought we could have a look at the Grammy's effect on the charts. With the Dixie Chicks claiming five Grammy's, it sees their "Single of the Year"; "Not Ready to Make Nice" move from No.61 to No.35 this week. Other Grammy winners/climbers include "Sexyback" (35 to 24), Red Hot Chili Peppers who won four Grammy's see's "Snow (Hey Oh) climb from 48 to 42, and Wolfmother who won for "Best Hard Rock Performance" for "Woman" sees "The Joker and The Thief" climb from 32 to 27. One last thing on the singles chart I have to mention, and it's about a mover and a mistake that I made last week. Firstly the move: "Daydreamin" by Lupe Fiasco moves from 50 to No.40 this week. The mistake was that I said it featured a sample of the Lovin' Spoonful song from 1966, when it was in fact a sample from a 1969 song was The Wallace Collection called "Daydreamin". When things you write get used, and then you discover that they're wrong, it takes a bit to erase the mistake. No movement at the No.1 albums position this week as Snow Patrol make it five straight weeks at the top, and as they kicked off a National Australian tour this weekend, it's bound to stay there a bit longer. Coming in at No.2 this week is "Extreme Behavior" by this weeks No.1 single artist Hinder. Having only previously released an EP in 2004, this album was first issued in the U.S. back in September 2005, and now a year-and-a-half later it makes it to our shores. The No.1 in the U.S. this week debuts on our charts at No.4, "Infinity on High" by Chicago's Fall Out Boy. It's their first Top 50 album here in Australia, having previously released there albums before: "Evening Out with Your Girl" (2002), "Take This to Your Grave" (2003) and "From Under the Cork Tree (2005). Like the Top 5 singles mentioned above about 3 out of 5 being from Rock groups, well it's double (and a bit) for the Top 10 albums. 7 of the Top 10 albums this week are all by Rock Performers, whilst the other three are by Females (last years trend). The Fray are the biggest internal Top 10 movers jumping from 10 to 5, whilst last weeks highest debut from Bloc Party (No.2 last week) is down to No.6. As I mentioned above, with Dixie Chicks winning five Grammy's, their album "Taking the Long Way" jumps back into the Top 50 albums as No.26 this week. And other Grammy winner, that being for "Best Contemporary R&B Album" also comes back into the Top 50. Beyonce's "B'Day" is back in at No.45.
February 18, 200718 yr I do love their charts sometimes and this is one of those times. :D What is the peak position for 'Lithium' so far?
