so should this topic about the 'reformation' of the jam be in here or not. should all the 'heritage acts' on things like Liberty and Sanctuary be moved into this area. even if they have a new record out or not. like i said before make it a dedicated 60s, 70 and 80s area.

good point.... are 'take that' eligible for this forum? i supposed so... :(

i think that yes... if 'heritage' acts were big in the past, or had their main period of success in the past then there is no reason that they cant be talked about here even if they have re-formed and currently enjoy chart success.

i dont think it would be a good idea to make the cut off at 1990, early 90's music was much closer in style to 80's then current, the late 90's are still current so a cut off point around ten years ago seems the best option. most of the convos here are pre-90's anyway.

So if I wanted to include a track by Beck then it would be frowned upon?

well i suppose so as uk wise his last alb has been forgotton about dut to the stickers fiasco.

btw did you get the album? did you design your cover? if so upload it to the culture box area. should be a beck thread there.

take that i suppose might be a little different due to their obv association with Robbie - remember one of the topline names of the past.

i was thinking of all the rest that crop up in the pop area and look out of place with all the Radio Disney stuff like Erasure and Duran duran

and esp. Mercury nom Scritti Pollitti.

is he a solo artist?, is he a group?, is he retro?, is he indie? is he soul, R&B, Hip Hop? is he Reggae? is he singer-songwriter??? or all of these things. an ecclectic problem

well that idea that a pop decade is ten years from like 1990 - 1999 is wrong anyway. someone said in the paper that change of musical ideals and styles doesnt happen dead on like say 1980 it normally happens a couple of years into decade. and also (excepting your stones and your u2) the period of interest is at most about 7 years or about 4 at the most for pop (boybands etc)
