Posted February 20, 200718 yr How can we prevent the corruption of childhood? A generation of very young girls is being psychologically damaged by "hooker chic" children’s fashion, harlot-like dolls and sexualised images in the media, leading psychologists have warned. According to the report, girls as young as four or five are suffering emotional and self-image problems such as shame and anxiety, eating disorders, and are more likely to have underage sex when older as a result of the trend. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml...20/ngirls20.xml A generation of pre-teens is being prematurely 'sexualised' by cynical retailers and a manipulative entertainments industry http://www.telegraph.co.uk/portal/main.jht...ftbritney20.xml :what do you make of these news articles?
February 21, 200718 yr they make grim reading for most parents of pre-teen children. But if the parents refused to buy them, then they would stop selling them, but try convincing some of these stupid parents who buy their kids absolutely anything. "oh little Britney would look good in this" <_<
February 21, 200718 yr I agree, I certainly wouldn't be buying a pre teen daughter of mine some of the clothes you see in the shops. Children grow up quickly enough any way and those sort of mini adult clothes are giving across the wrong messages. The parents are the ones who need to stand firm and say no
February 21, 200718 yr Parents are the ones that choose what their children see. I love pop culture, but I won't be letting my child watch MTV at the age of 7, where they have shows like the real world, where their main objective is to party and hook up with people outside of the cast. But, I will say in some accounts, it is very hard to shield a childs eyes from seeing adult matters.
February 21, 200718 yr what do you expect when pop idols produce porno vids to sell records that are aimed at a young market?... its high time to get porn out of music vids.
February 22, 200718 yr I bet the mothers that buy their kids these slutty outfits are the first to kick up a fuss about paedophilia  hypocrites Next thing we will be having these VILE American beauty pageants etc in this country
February 22, 200718 yr how are we supposed to when young girls´ first toy is a barbie? what will be the expectations of a kid, if at the age of 14 the kid as not had sex with 5 partners it´s already considered an idiot among its friends. All we do is complain but what type of alternative entertainment is there? How many parents will lead their kids to learn classical music instead of watching Pussycat Dolls videos? This society sucks and it´s not wonder each day more people retire to take part in one of these weirdo communities that have minimal contact with the outside world. The quality of music channels is appaling... I was watching the other day a channel with traslations of the song and they played Akon - Justin Timberlake and Pussycat Dolls in a row. When technology evolves enough, there will come a day you turn your tv on and put in on MTV there will be a hand coming out of the TV ready to masturbate you.
