For me, I would do a "Best Comedic Performance" (a bit like the Golden Globes one) beacuse the Academy tends to unappreciate comedic performances over dramatic and this would give comedy acting its rightful worth. It would be gender-free.

Eddie Murphy - The Nutty Professor / Bowfinger

Meg Ryan - When Harry met Sally

Hugh Grant - Four weddings and a funeral

Rhys Ifans - Notting Hill

Jim Carrey - Liar Liar

"Best Debut Feature" - to give young, up-and-coming directors a hand-up the ladder....

 

"Best Low-budget/Indie Feature Film" - the rules for this one would have to be incredibly strict though, none of this "Fox Searchlight" malarkay or big studios masquerading as Indies would be allowed...
