Posted February 22, 200718 yr UK: Liz McClarnon and Brian Harvey for MYMU? http://www.esctoday.com/images/2007_pre/uklizandbrian_0.jpg Following the news that Morrissey will take no part in the United Kingdom's entry for the Eurovision Song contest, bookmakers William Hill have pushed the price of UK winning from 14/1 to 20/1 and shortened the price of the UK entrant getting ‘nil point’ from 40/1 to 33/1. The bookmakers have also provided a bespoke list of odds on potential United Kingdom finalists for 2007. Leading the race are Liz McClarnon and Brian Harvey. Amongst the names in the frame, William Hill rates former Atomic Kitten Liz McClaron is their current 6/4 favourite to represent the UK in Helsinki on the 12th of May and offer 10/1 that Jordan & Peter Andre get the gig. 16/1 odds are offered on Dannii Minogue and 25/1 for Take That who recently performed the interval act at Denmark’s national final last week. Odds are likely to change as and when the BBC release the full list of finalists. It is also almost certain to include names that are not on the list below. “It looks like Liz McClarnon and Brian Harvey are all but certain to be in the short-list of six but Eurovison fans will be desperate for Take That to represent the UK and if they did we would make the UK our favourites for the first time in ten yearsâ€, said Hill's spokesman Rupert Adams. Two more names that appeared on various forums today are Michelle Bass and Lee Otway. esctoday.com understands that neither name is in the frame for the 2007 Making Your Mind Up. esctoday.com believes that Brian Harvey, formerly of the internationally successful band East 17, and Liz McClarnon will be in the final list of participants for the United Kingdom's final, but despite Take That's appearance in the Danish national final, they will not be competing for the nation's Eurovision Song Contest ticket. Dannii Minogue was a strong candidate this year, but is on the same record label as Liz McClarnon and is therefore now considered as very unlikely to participate. Robbie Williams, whilst a hugely popular choice amongst fans is currently dealing with personal issues and is unlikely to be available in March. William Hill odds on who will represent the United Kingdom at the 2007 Eurovision Song Contest: 6/4 Liz McClarnon 6/1 Brian Harvey 8/1 Michelle McManus 10/1 Journey South 10/1 Jordan & Peter Andre 12/1 Charlotte Church 16/1 Dannii Minogue 25/1 Bucks Fizz 25/1 Take That 100/1 Robbie Williams As a 'Big Four' country, the United Kingdom will participate in the Eurovision Song Contest final in Helsinki in May 12th. February 22, 200718 yr Author Liz McClarnon wouldn't be a bad choice I reckon? Atomic Kitten were fairly popular across Europe weren't they?

February 22, 200718 yr Were Take That even really known in Europe? Here and germany.. that is all i know.
February 22, 200718 yr Here and germany.. that is all i know. Well, if we get Take That I suppose we are guaranteed a few points, which is a few more than we're usually guaranteed  We should really get the Scissor Sisters to do it, it's totally their scene and they're very well known in Europe :( If we could persuade them to do it we'd be guaranteed a top 3 placing :cheer:
February 23, 200718 yr It seems that whoever we send will be far from representative of the UK music scene...The UK is all about indie-rock and singer songwriters at the moment and Daz Sampson and Javine don't fit into these categories...
February 23, 200718 yr It seems that whoever we send will be far from representative of the UK music scene...The UK is all about indie-rock and singer songwriters at the moment and Daz Sampson and Javine don't fit into these categories... I would disagree slightly and say the UK music is currently represented by TALENT. Something that Brian Harvey, Michelle McManus, Lz McLarnon and Jordan have none of :manson:
February 24, 200718 yr Author The final must be on on the 10th March, making us the final country to decide our song along with Portugal and Sweden. BBC One's schedule is filled next Saturday with Comic Relief, Casualty, Lottery and Celeb Weakest Link. Their schedule for the 10th will be announced tomorrow so I'll let you know in a few hours perhaps.
February 25, 200718 yr Author There is an hour on BBC One from 7.30pm - 8.30pm on the 10th March that hasn't been announced yet - Making Your Mind Up could go there... but I can't see any room for a results show, unless they're gonna do it all in one.
