Posted February 24, 200718 yr Mine is definitely Jeff Martin of Racer X... amazing voice, in my opinion. Here's a video: LFwn2F2pvXo What's yours??
February 24, 200718 yr Maynard James Keenan - Tool/A Perfect Circle - incredibly distinctive, and the guy can seriously sing.... Chino Moreno - Deftones, certainly by no means a particularly 'great' technical singer, but there's just something about his voice that I like... Serj Tankian/Daron Malakian - System of a Down - As with Maynard, these guys have an immediately identifiable style, and the harmonies they can achieve are simply marvellous... Tankian in particular has an incredible vocal range and the different things he can do with his voice simply astound me... Michael Ackerfeldt - Opeth - Capable of the gentlest, most sweet harmonies or the most terrifying 'Death Growls'. Dani Filth or Glenn Benton wishes they were a tenth this good... Danny Cavanagh - Anathema - In a live setting, he manages to sound every bit as good as he does on album...
June 15, 200718 yr Jello Biafra from DK- IDK it's just amazing he can sing, and his tone is really flexible Danzig- A great deep dark voice
June 15, 200718 yr Jello Biafra from DK- IDK it's just amazing he can sing, and his tone is really flexible Jello is a seriously cool motherfukker.... Did you you know he once stood as a possible Presidential Candidate for the US Green Party.... Unfortunately he didn't the nomination...
June 16, 200718 yr Really? I didnt know that but Im glad he did Jello is awesome. I just knew that he was a cnadidate for Gov. in San Fran, didnt win eithe; not so sure if his run was a joke or not.
June 17, 200718 yr Really? I didnt know that but Im glad he did Jello is awesome. I just knew that he was a cnadidate for Gov. in San Fran, didnt win eithe; not so sure if his run was a joke or not. I dont think he was joking mate.. I think it was a serious attempt.. Jello is very politically conscious...
June 18, 200718 yr Most definetely M. Shadows of Avenged Sevenfold makes my list, but Synyster really is the life blood of that band. Billie Joe from Green Day is there too. WAY not metal or even hard punk, but his voice is instantly recognizable. Gotta back you up on System of a Down. That's music right there. And finally, Limp Bizkit.
June 19, 200718 yr well since Soundgarden was pretty much heavy metal back in 91 (I hate the grunge label people put on them) I have to say Chris Cornell (circa 1991)
June 20, 200718 yr I dont think he was joking mate.. I think it was a serious attempt.. Jello is very politically conscious... Yeah I hear what you're saying but I recall that one time he was just joking but then took it seriously; not sure if it was his campaign for San Fran. Fov or Green P. pres. Still "There's always room for Jello"
June 21, 200718 yr A couple of my faves are Lemmy Kilmeister from Motorhead, and Bruce Dickinson of Iron Maiden, along with Henry Rollins, from Black Flag and the Rollins Band.
June 21, 200718 yr well since Soundgarden was pretty much heavy metal back in 91 (I hate the grunge label people put on them) I have to say Chris Cornell (circa 1991) and i suppose without 'grunge' happening to the metal side of rock I suppose you might be still suck with acts who look like this:    http://www.rockdetector.com/assets/resized/img/artists/8673-0-300-0-300.jpg
June 21, 200718 yr well since Soundgarden was pretty much heavy metal back in 91 (I hate the grunge label people put on them) I have to say Chris Cornell (circa 1991) Soundgarden kinda did fit into the "Grunge" category though, although I do agree they were certainly more about getting back to what Metal and Hard Rock should be about..... "Metal" in the US was still all about pricks with big hair, spandex and lip-gloss back then, bands like Soundgarden (who had done at least one album before their '92 breakthrough "Badmotorfinger"), Tad, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Alice In Chains, L7, etc completely distanced themselves from all that and played a completely different, rawer, more "underground" type of music which was less concerned with the image and more about the actual music... Also, Soundgarden belonged to that "Sub-Pop" roster of bands as well.....
June 21, 200718 yr "Metal" in the US was still all about pricks with big hair, spandex and lip-gloss back then, however these kinda metal dudes are funny  http://feralhouse.com/press/mini_sites/american_hair_metal/images/AMH_cover_437.jpg http://flumesday.com/images/offspring/nelson.jpg
June 21, 200718 yr A few spring to mind 1.) The air raid siren himself - Bruce Dickinson. 2.) Ronnie James Dio has an incredible voice 3.) Lou Gram of Foreigner. I know not really metal or punk but a great soulful rock voice 4.) Pink has a stunning set of pipes too !
June 22, 200718 yr Maynard for Tool/APC has the greatest male voice in my opinion, closely followed by Chino Moreno from the Deftones (but his vocals can get a bit boring after a while).
July 31, 200717 yr Hi all My favorite male vocalist in Punk rock and heavy metal is Lemmy Kilmeister from Motorhead. This guy is a technical singer. I like its voice.
July 31, 200717 yr "Metal" in the US was still all about pricks with big hair, spandex and lip-gloss back then eh? wasn't all that... there was that and there was the proper metal in the thrash movement. Hair metal was a joke as S.O.D point out Milano Mosh. anyway. Chuck Billy Bobby "blitz" Elsworth Bruce Dickinson King Diamond ;)
