Posted February 25, 200718 yr Hello ya all and welcome to a poll where you can decide the best song that Darius Danesh had inside the UK Top 40 This is a big campaign, so I hope that you will vote for the song you think it's the best :yahoo: Inside the Features/Request Forum there's my request for a Compilation Forum  http://www.buzzjack.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=31350 If you like the idea, please do vote, because there will be featured the new songs and games from the major UK compilations... (plus the movie soundtrack compilations). Returning to this forum idea, the best Darius song will be included on the first Buzzjack Compilation  46 Artist Forums exist now, and I will do a double CD with the 46 songs that are the best from each artist The order of the tracklisting will be decided by all of you (from all the forums), when the Compilation forum will be created, by a simple Survivor game  Meanwhile, good voting! (watch out, there's a multiple choice possibility  ). The poll remains open for the next weeks, until the Compilations forum will be created (if created  ).xox.
February 25, 200718 yr Author Colourblind remains my favourite, but I voted for 2 songs  xox.
February 25, 200718 yr Hi Cornholio Do you know how hard it is for us to pick a favourite song  I might just lucky dip it
February 25, 200718 yr I've voted for Live Twice, as I think its a beautiful song and Darius' vocals on it were spectacular. I still like Colourblind though.
February 25, 200718 yr I would vote for colourblind although I do prefer the large number of B sides particularly faith in me which is now playing on my space together with three other songs of his which are amngst many that he has written and I also therefore find it a very difficult choice as these others are always at the back of my mind.
February 25, 200718 yr Hello Cornholio :hi: Colourblind featured on a few compilation albums I think, and Darius covered Pretty Flamingo on the One Love album and Sandy on Grease, so maybe you'll be able to feature those in your new compilation forum at some point too! - have fun with your new forum (when it arrives) - you seem excited about it! Does the Darius track for the BJ compilation album have to come from his single releases then Cornholio? I know what you mean Preston, I think if all of Darius's album tracks and b-sides were included the result would be different, going off the compiled results of Leigh's last two ISS Discovery Ultimate Darius Charts, it would be either Mercury Rising or Secret Song that would be featured on a Darius fan compilation album - I'd probably go for Mercury Rising since Darius chose that as one of his own favourites as well recently. It's still difficult to choose a favourite single for me anyway though - it depends on my mood at the time which one I like best  What is the multiple choice possibility? ... is it like first and second favourite? or two equal favourites? or something else? edit - next question, how long have I got to make up my mind? :D Edited February 25, 200718 yr by Secret_Song
February 25, 200718 yr What was Steve Lillywhite on, when he told Darius he should leave the best tracks on any album and never release them as singles? I just don't get the logic of that. For me, my "two singles that should have been" from Dive In were Dive In and Mercury Rising. Mercury Rising should have been released instead of Incredible and Dive In for summer 2003. If there had to be a ballad, it should've been Gotta know Tonight.
February 25, 200718 yr What was Steve Lillywhite on, when he told Darius he should leave the best tracks on any album and never release them as singles? I just don't get the logic of that. Not sure if Steve Lillywhite's logic on that was the same as my thinking, but I understand that logic in a way, especially in the past including up to the time that Dive In was released really. If ever I've bought an album and found that I don't like the other tracks on it as much as the single that enticed me to buy it in the first place, then I feel disappointed in the album as a whole and I'm far less likely to persue an interest in the artist and buy their next album. I've liked all of Darius's singles anyway but I was delighted to find there were tracks on his album (and b-sides on his singles) that I loved even more! - that just made me love and respect Darius as an artist all the more  Now though, you can listen to all of an artists tracks, or at least samples online on download stores etc... so you can get a better idea of a whole album before you buy it - not sure if that's a good or bad thing for the artists  - If I don't find that I'm really grabbed by several tracks, I tend not to buy a whole album anymore, but rather just download the single or whichever song(s) appeal to me. Just editing to say that you've brought back some memories for me Baytree ~ Gotta Know Tonight was the track I first fell in love with when we first got to hear the album tracks  that and Sliding Doors  were my two favourites for quite a while, plus Girl in the Moon ~ Mercury Rising was more of a grower than an instant grabber for me - but I do think it's probably the 'best' song on Dive In overall though, maybe... just listening to I'm not Buying at the moment - that's a cracking song too! - or maybe Simple Like the Truth? Oh I love Better than that too .... Ahhh Mocking Bird now - the anthem! - Oh sod it! - I could never decide in a million years - I loved the whole album and I still do :) I just think that the artist should release whatever they want to themselves Edited February 25, 200718 yr by Secret_Song
February 25, 200718 yr Does the Darius track for the BJ compilation album have to come from his single releases then Cornholio? I've just re-read the thread/your compilation title  - I guess that answers my own question and the answer is yes :D I still need a deadline though ... today I've got them in this order: Live Twice Girl in the Moon Colourblind Incredible Kinda Love Rushes tomorrow ... who knows? :D
February 26, 200718 yr I've scored out Kinda Love. No brain decision. The wow factor only comes over in the live performance. As a D song on a record, I reckon it's in my bottom ten, including all b sides and cover versions.
February 26, 200718 yr Rushes, I adore that song, so exhilarating, although Colourblind I love..and Live twice..oh and Incredible, and Girl in the Moon. I still like Kinda Love though, it is such a hapy song, especially in the sunshone.
February 26, 200718 yr yes, rushes when I am happy, live twice if I feel a bit meloncholy. so I find it hard to choose, at a pinch I would plump for Rushes as it makes me happy, while Live twice makes me sad.
February 26, 200718 yr Of the singles, I'm torn between Rushes and Live Twice. They are my 2 favourites as well BT and PIP (well, today, anyway!! ) - can't we vote for both? Cornholio says he has voted for two!! Julie
February 27, 200718 yr Wish I had waited to see if you could vote for more than one. My favourite singles are Rushes, Live Twice and Incredible...just love the video.
February 27, 200718 yr I've just re-read the poll question and it says which songs do you like more? Also as they are tick boxes, it dawned on me  that we can probably vote for however many we want to? - it seems so. ... bit daft to vote for them all, so I ticked my top 4 :D - my favourite out of those 4 changes back and forth between them - so that's the best I can do! February 28, 200718 yr Voted for Rushes and Live Twice. I couldn't choose between them because they mean such different things to me. Rushes is such an adaptable song and I've always loved it whether it was a real rock out with the boys, especially Karl and Spence giving their all, or a stripped down acoustic version. I love the Rushes video because amongst other things it's a permanent record of Darius's first group and his good friends, who criss-crossed the country with him in those early days. For me, my enduring memory of Live Twice will be Paisley in 2004: 15,000 people stunned into silence as Darius sat alone on the stage, played his guitar and sang this beautiful song. Later when I went around the back of the stage, there was his father Booth, just out of hospital, but determined to see his son performing. He looked awful and I wouldn't have given tuppence for his chances of survival at that moment but his pride and the love emanating from Darius and Aria as they assisted him to the car was so very humbling and touching. I'm not surprised that the family were expecting the worst news that December, but so glad they got the best instead. This is Yazzi's photo from Paisley. It must've been the coldest day of the year and she'd been waiting in the freezing cold for nearly four hours for Darius. She wasn't the only one and I couldn't get close to the stage at all although I could still see Darius....his height is sometimes a great advantage! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v603/Maria194/Yazzi.jpg Edited February 28, 200718 yr by Baytree

As much as I love Colourblind I am getting a little bit fed-up that it is the only one of D's singles that many people recognise and it would be lovely to have Rushes or Live Twice on a compilation as I feel both of them should have been No.1!! I didn't get to Paisley to see D turn on the lights, but the number of people who turned out to see him was amazing!! Wonderful photo!! - Whatever happened to Yazzi?? I haven't seen her on the Boards for ages!!?? Julie
February 28, 200718 yr I've seen her name a few times but she's always been more of a reader than a poster.
March 1, 200718 yr Wonderful photo!! - Whatever happened to Yazzi?? I haven't seen her on the Boards for ages!!?? Julie I've seen her name a few times but she's always been more of a reader than a poster. Have you seen her on here? She used to post a lot on Divas and she came and joined .net after Divas bit the dust, but didn't really get into posting regularly on there. Same as a lot of people really, there are loads of people that used to be active posters in Dariusworld that aren't now.
