February 25, 200718 yr Chartbeat from Billboard.com February 22, 2007, Fred Bronson 'AROUND' AND 'AROUND': An 8-1 move on The Billboard Hot 100 gives Justin Timberlake a third No. 1 single from his "FutureSex/Lovesounds" album. Following "SexyBack" and "My Love" at the head of the class is "What Goes Around…Comes Around" (Jive). That makes Timberlake the first artist to pull three or more No. 1 hits from one album since Usher scored four-chart-topper from the special edition of his "Confessions" CD. "Yeah!", "Burn," "Confessions Part II" and "My Boo" (a duet with Alicia Keys) all had turns at the top of the chart between February and December 2004. Timberlake's hat trick began the week of Sept. 9, 2006, when "SexyBack" climbed to No. 1. "My Love" moved into the penthouse the week of Nov. 11. "What Goes Around" is the 13th No. 1 for the Jive label in a streak that began the week of Nov. 3, 1984 with Billy Ocean's "Caribbean Queen (No More Love on the Run)". Timberlake is now tied with Ocean for being the artist who has given the label the most No. 1 hits, with three each. Timberlake was also part of 'N Sync, which had an additional No. 1 hit on Jive. Timberlake helps keep the vast majority of Jive’s No. 1s in the male column. Celine Dion was second-billed on R. Kelly's "I’m Your Angel" and Britney Spears gave the label its only No. 1 by a solo female artist, "…Baby One More Time." Otherwise, all of Jive’s other chart-toppers were by men, including Ocean, Hi-Five, Kelly, 'N Sync and Joe. Coincidentally, "What Goes Around…Comes Around" is only the second elliptical No. 1 title in the rock era, following the one by labelmate Spears. 'NICE' TO BE WITH YOU: In the wake of their multiple Grammy wins, the Dixie Chicks also triumph on the Hot 100, as expected, after the surge in sales of paid digital downloads that followed the award telecast. "Not Ready to Make Nice" (Columbia), which peaked at No. 23 in its original chart run from May-September 2006, re-enters the Hot 100 at No. 4. That makes "Nice" the highest-charting of the 16 entries the Dixie Chicks have had on this tally. Until now, the trio's highest-ranking songs were "Long Time Gone" and "Landslide." Both reached No. 7, the former in 2002 and the latter in 2003. "Not Ready to Make Nice" ties "Control Myself" by LL Cool J and Jennifer Lopez as the highest re-entry in the history of the Hot 100. "Control Myself" reappeared at No. 4 the week of April 29, 2006. 'OVER' THE TOP: "It’s Not Over" (RCA) by Daughtry advances 3-1 on the Adult Top 40 chart, making Daughtry only the second act to come out of the "American Idol" franchise to top this survey. Kelly Clarkson was in charge for five weeks in August-September 2005 with "Behind These Hazel Eyes." This is the 111th No. 1 for the TV series, counting all domestic, national charts compiled by the Billboard Information Group. Here is a summary of the songs from "Idol" contestants that have charted on Adult Top 40, ranked by peak position: No. 1 (five weeks): "Behind These Hazel Eyes," Kelly Clarkson (2005) No. 1 (one week to date): "It's Not Over," Daughtry (2007) No. 2: "Breakaway," Kelly Clarkson (2005) No. 2: "Since U Been Gone," Kelly Clarkson (2005) No. 2: "Because of You," Kelly Clarkson (2005) No. 3: "Walk Away," Kelly Clarkson (2006) No. 11: "The Real Thing," Bo Bice (2006) No. 14: "Miss Independent," Kelly Clarkson (2003) No. 22: "Some Hearts," Carrie Underwood (2006) No. 25: "Invisible," Clay Aiken (2004) No. 26: "Before He Cheats," Carrie Underwood 2007) No. 27: "A Moment Like This," Kelly Clarkson (2002) No. 31: "The Trouble With Love Is," Kelly Clarkson (2004) No. 36: "8th World Wonder," Kimberley Locke (2004) MANA'S 'SENAL': When Julio Iglesias leapt 14-1 with "Lo Mejor De Tu Vida" on the Hot Latin Songs chart dated June 6, 1987, he set the record for the biggest leap to the top in the chart's history. After almost 20 years, Iglesias' record has been broken by Mana, who soared 22-1 with its fourth No. 1 hit, "Manda Una Senal" (Warner Latina). "Manda" is the sixth song to rocket to No. 1 from outside the top 10 in the almost 21-year history of this survey. Aside from the singles by Mana and Julio Iglesias, those No. 1 hits are: 13-1 "Abrazar La Vida," Luis Fonsi (2004) 13-1 "Vivo Y Muero En Tu Piel" (2004) 12-1 "Te Quise Tanto," Paulina Rubio (2004) 11-1 "Tu Amor," Luis Fonsi (2007) "Manda Una Senal" is the third consecutive No. 1 for Mana on Hot Latin Songs, following "Labios Compartidos" and "Bendita Tu Luz." "Mariposa Traicionera" was No. 1 in 2003. With a fourth chart-topper under its belt, Mana is tied with Los Bukis and La Mafia as the acts with the most No. 1s on this tally. 'RUNAWAY' PRODUCTION: Ludacris and Mary J. Blige march 5-2 on the Hot 100 with "Runaway Love" (DTP/Def Jam). If the song stops in the runner-up position, it will be the second No. 2 hit for each artist. Ludacris has had three No. 1 hits, starting with "Stand Up" in 2003. That song, which featured Shawnna, spent one week at the summit. In 2004, Ludacris was featured along with Lil Jon on Usher's "Yeah!", which reigned for a dozen weeks. In the autumn of 2006, Ludacris and featured guest Pharrell ruled for two weeks with "Money Maker." And back in May 2005, Ludacris was featured on Ciara’s No. 2 hit, "Oh." When Blige's "Not Gon' Cry" went to No. 2 in February 1996, it was her highest-ranked Hot 100 hit to that date. In November 2001 she spent six weeks in pole position with "Family Affair." Her collaboration with Ludacris is her biggest hit since then, even surpassing the No. 3 peak of "Be Without You," her massive hit from the first quarter of 2006.
