April 13, 200619 yr I have discussed this SO many times :rofl: Say Somethin' was meant to be the first single but because it was leaked, it got replaced with It's Like That, and then when deciding every single after that Say Somethin' was always brought up, and they wanted to release more off the album (God knows why!) and they chose Say Somethin' to release around Europe, but they're releasing Say Somethin' and Fly Like A Bird in the USA. I think they might put Fly Like A Bird on the b-side in the UK or something. I think Say Somethin' is definately the right choice of single to release out of the 2, it has much more crossover appeal whereas Fly Like A Bird would definately not appeal to the UK and would bomb, and i'm not saying Say Somethin' won't but it's a lot more mainstream than Fly Like A Bird. Still I don't know how this is going to go, I hope it goes well but i'm not holding my breath.

It was used to test the waters. How the hell did it get leaked? Deliberately, of course. Island Def Jam wanted to see the reaction before unleashing 'it's like that' - and it helped to kill some time when it was confirmed the album had been delayed until 2005. Oh - and it was considered for every single? We belong together was always going to be the 2nd single. The 3rd single came from a choice of shake it off (Mariah's choice) or the fan choice (Say somethin). Apparently, it was "the fans" who convinced her to go for SIO. After that, it was always going to be DFAU as 4th single. I can't see the single being much of a hit - only cos the album's sold too much. April 13, 200619 yr 'Say something' has already appeared on a couple of personal charts on Buzz Jack and is new in 'The Buzz Jack Top 40' this week in the Your Charts forum. :)
April 13, 200619 yr Author I don't think most people will realise it's off MIMI. I think it's a perfect chill song and so unlike all the other singles from the album. This single will be a big hit - all my friends love it!!! They can sing along to it which makes it good, much like WBT!!!

I agree with that, but I don't think she used her voice that much on It's Like That either :unsure:
April 14, 200619 yr agreed but it was back to more full power vocals rather than the 'whispering' which is still rather prominent on SS, imo
