April 14, 200619 yr Author yeh i think this album was the return of the belting voice which people missed. There is hardly any whispering on this album compared to charmbracelet. her voice isnt what it was 15 years ago but she is still a belter!!!!
April 15, 200619 yr Well that's what you THINK happened, I think what I said happened, but each to their own, neither of our opinions is confirmed either way so it makes no difference. What I meant was, apart from We Belong Together, there was always speculation as to which track she would release and Say Somethin' was always brought up, like with the 3rd single, and at the time no-one knew about the re-release or Don't Forget About Us and everyone thought it would have been Say Somethin' I think you're both almost right. As far as I know - and again I can't confirm this now, but I have been a huge Mariah fan for years and I read all the news articles online I can - 'Say Somethin" and 'It's Like That' were both leaked on purpose by the record company. 'Say Somethin" was leaked first - October, November 2004, I remember because it was my first term in halls - and nobody liked it. Radio weren't having it at all. 'It's Like That' was leaked next. Over the Christmas holidays 2004/5. Radio picked it up and it became the official first single.
April 15, 200619 yr Oh, and as Trev said the whole 'Return of the Voice' campaign appeared around when 'It's Like That' leaked. It was a big deal that she wasn't whispering on her new single as she had on the verses to the Charmbracelet singles and on 'Say Somethin" and this was mentioned in several reviews. Hope that clears things up a bit.
April 15, 200619 yr Featuring snoop dog and pharell?? This is bound to be a load of turd, why can't she go back to the nice slushy ballads.
April 16, 200619 yr I've heard the song and I think it's as dismal as most of the tracks on the album. I don't mind Mariah Carey, but she does *not* come from the hood, so I wish she'd stop all these rap collaborations!
April 16, 200619 yr Featuring snoop dog and pharell?? This is bound to be a load of turd, why can't she go back to the nice slushy ballads. Hear hear - though she should still wear skimpy clothes... :)
April 16, 200619 yr Author actually she does come from the hood - her father was black!!! i bet many people dont know that!!
April 16, 200619 yr Was she not relesing FLAB? is that short for something? or is she singing "I'm a Fatty, I'm a lardarse, I've got Flab"? which would be nice   Edited April 16, 200619 yr by tigerboy
April 16, 200619 yr FLAB - fly like a bird!! Could be Fly like a Beagle, but I think PETA would voice concerns
April 16, 200619 yr is that short for something? or is she singing "I'm a Fatty, I'm a lardarse, I've got Flab"? which would be nice   Not if you check the new pictures of her in the forum, uber slim if I do say so myself. :P
April 16, 200619 yr I've heard the song and I think it's as dismal as most of the tracks on the album. I agree, i love mariah and all her early albums, and i LOVE most of her singles but Emancipatio of mimi was a dissapointment.
April 17, 200619 yr I agree, i love mariah and all her early albums, and i LOVE most of her singles but Emancipatio of mimi was a dissapointment. Really? If I had to put all of Mariahs albums in order of which ones I liked the most Mimi would be in the top5, probably even top3
April 17, 200619 yr Really? If I had to put all of Mariahs albums in order of which ones I liked the most Mimi would be in the top5, probably even top3  When I bought it it definatly wasnt a dissappointment, but since then, Ive heard lots more of her earlier stuff, and I dont think its as good, probably top 5 in Mariah Albums for me (#5 I think) but some of the songs let it down.
