That you just put the music on a 'direct sales' thing to the public, no real 'promotion schedules' are required.... Everything is done via the website, the myspace, whatever.... No actual 'physical' release is really necessary now.... Not since Gnarls Barkley got to No 1 through internet sales and not since the rules changed..... The nature of the game has changed.... The artist can take control...

But I reckon in the next Decade or so, when more and more of the 'household' names start to come to the contract re-negotiations, they'll be hopefully more inclined to go "Naaaah, I actually want a bit more than one poxy quid out of every 12...."

Oh, they will alright, but the technology is just running away from them too fast and they dont really have a prayer of keeping up... Record Companies cant even stop bands from putting up videos on "You Tube" if they want.. Albums 'leak' onto the internet left, right and centre also...
