for the purposes of this forum we would like it to be over ten years old... under ten years can be dealt with in the pop/chart/ of forums etc.

 

if an artist/hit/tv show/ game anything is over ten years old regardless of how modern it may sound. thats probably because so many artists today copy old sounds anyway..

i think a lot of the Cherion/Max Martin/Denniz Pop/Herbie Crichlow hasnt dated at all even tho its like years and years and years old in pop terms. Backstreet Boys & *Nsync do fall into the retro category as a lot of their stuff is now 10 years old. however 5ive is too new under Rob's rules.

2000 is retro, seeing how greedy record companies can re-issue and re-package things and also the fact that the music scene changes at a rapid pace (apart from a few longterm acts)

 

however i agree you gotta have a cut off date, but this ten year rule where the mushyman gets into a fit and closes the thread if its one year over the limit is just being a bit too pedantic (and to be fair to him, he's not the only mod to be a bit pedantic when it comes to moderation at times). c'mon the lost hits of the early 90s, should have been the whole 90s.
