Former S Club 7 singer Rachel Stevens is emerging as one of the favourites to represent the UK at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest in Helsinki.

Stevens, who has had mixed success with a solo career since S Club 7 disbanded, is hoping the British public will support her to be the voice and face of the United Kingdom at the 2007 contest.

She is said to be on the shortlist of artists approached to take part in this year’s Making Your Mind Up, where the UK’s entry will be selected by public phone vote. The list of performers will be officially announced on February 28.

A BBC insider said: “We never comment on speculation. All will be revealed on Wednesday.â€

PLEASE NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, don't do it, it will RUIN her even more, please no.
Is this a joke? In her entire solo career she's only performed live like once or twice! I'm pretty sure thats a big reason why her career went down the tubes, the fact she mimed all the time...and now she wants britain to represent her in Eurovision? don't get me wrong I love rachel to bits, i just think its funny of all the singers out there they'd choose her.
Now here's someone I'd like to see back in the charts again! :D Rachel may not be a brilliant performer, but she's a hell of a lot better than some of the crappy names we've had thrown at us so far  And of all of them, I'd love to see her successful off the back of it - not that she will be of course

this just wont do her career any favours at all

Rachel DONT DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well if it's true, and she wins, it could will put her back in the public eye again...and maybe make way for another bash at her music career.
