Thank god it is'nt being released in the UK :cheer:

He needs to take a break and only release singles if he and EMI are willing to put some actual work into the project.

I really hope the next release is the 1st single off the Swing2 album... I really wanted The 90s to be released, but he really needs to take a break, to disappear for quite some time... if the Swing2 album wasn't on the 2007 schedule, I would have waited till 2008, but EMI wants another album this year :(

Yes I agree. He really really needs to take a break and he himself knows this as he said in an interview that he needs to go away from the UK for a bit. The public obviously are going to be bored with him if he is constantly releasing, we as fans won't but the general record buying public clearly will, and releasing an album like Rudebox to deliberatly alienate alot of fans did'nt help.

Swing2 is happening as it was in the contract but it should wait until 2008, I agree, but EMI are just so f***ing annoying, they just want it out in the shops and are not prepared to do any work for it and I somehow don't see Rob doing much either, especially this year. If he was with a record company who knew what they were doing then they would have the logic to know that he needs to take a break and then make a big comback instead of releasing album after album if they are not prepared to put some actual work into promoting. He would be FAR better off with a record company like SonyBMG or Universal imo. <_<

Why are you saying this ?

I have to say I prefer Rudebox to IC or even Escapology ! :o

And regarding record companies, I think one is like another: Robbie was the Golden Boy of the charts, all the labels would have milked him the way EMI is doing, more or less... :( :( :(

No, I perfer Rudebox to IC as well and Escapology, what I meant was it is extremly experimental. His main fanbase love him for his big song-along ballads and Queen like stadium anthems etc, so in general this album was a huge risk, promo or no promo. Rob said in that T4 Interview when IC was released that he wanted to release something nect that might flop, i'm not saying it has flopped, 3m sold is not a flop, but by his standards in the UK anyway, it has done badly. He also said if you read is amazing book "Feel", when he was planning on killing off the whole Robbie Williams thing, and wanted to release under the name "Pure Francis" that he wanted to alienate the fans, so he knew full well what he was doing if you ask me. Doing no promo at all also made matters worse, and of course the fact it was released so soon after IC, and all the negetivity surrouncing the single in particular Rudebox.

I don't really have a huge problem with record company's milking the artist, as at least the fans get more and more, however EMI release albums etc and do absolutelly NOTHING to promote them, and then have the cheak to moan about losing money etc, It is very annoying. Look at the amount of amazing concerts Rob has had on TV, Knebworth is the ONLY concert from an actual tour that is on dvd which is simply ridiuclous, which is why I'm saying at least if he was with SonyBMG, they would milk him and give the fans what they want, but actually bother to promote him as well.

Look at Coldplay and the vast majority of big acts, they take AT LEAST 2 years off after an album and big tour. Anticipation = more success, if they released a rap album tomorrow I highly doubt their fans would be overly pleased  So I think it is more to do with Rob himself not really caring and he seems to just want to get out of his contract as quick as possibly. I don't see why he is so different from the likes of Coldplay. It is obviously down to himself. He calls the shots with the contract as he has said in the past so if he wanted a year off to write an album then I'm sure he would be given that, but EMI want an album each year to make more money, and Rob I think just wants to get out of the contract so both just go with the flow seeminly. I don't know why he is in such a rush though, hopefully he now realises that he has taken on too much over the past year + what with the tour etc, and EMI must be pressurising him. After reading all the recent articles about EMI and them being bought about by Warner, i don't think them and Rob are on the best of terms. Rob I'd imagine would be quite stubborn with them and his managment know exactly what they are doing, so who knows. I personally would like him to release independently and do his own promo.

Btw, having Lily Allen on the song would probebly help it, but Keep On is FAR more suitable imo

Scotty - I agree with you on this... I think that Rob & his management know full well what they are doing & it seems that they have had plenty run in's with EMI - Tim Clark mentioned it recently in The Guardian where EMI were not happy with the other deals that Rob had with T.Mobile, Sony, etc... so I think that there is a lot more going on that we are not aware of.

Rob has realised that he needs to get his health sorted out anyway before he does anything else & now is the time & after such a long tour he needs a long break anyway...what did he take the last time ...two years. It looks like the Swing album wll go ahead anyway & will more than likely be his last with EMI. Rob at 33 now probably realises that he has some choices to make with regards to himself & his career & so with the new concepts that IE Music are involved in with their Artists there are interesting times ahead.

I prefer Keep On,

But LOVE this!

I think bongo bong will be a single, i have a link to a radio rip of fedde le grand's remix of it, if anybody wants it pm me.
Bongo Bong is the current Robbie single in Latin America, so it might be the next one in Europe?

Scotty - I definitely agree with you on that one :)
