February 28, 200718 yr If Liz wins she'll be the second Atomic Kitten member in Eurovision. Jenny did it in 1999 with Precious. Oh yeah! I'd forgot about that! Right well so far I've only heard two of the songs. Big Brovaz has a catchy chorus, but rap just doesn't do well at Eurovision. Brian Harvey's song is currently a bit dull and could do with a bit of a re-arrangement. They're also well over four minutes each, so will need cutting down. Hoping Liz won't make it!! She's a very weak singer and I can smell another nul points should she get to the final. I've not heard of this Cyndi person, but from what I've heard she could be the girl with a powerful voice and a big ballad that we need!! She could do a Daz Sampson and steal the show! There's no way in hell Scooch will make it, but I used to listen to them when I was younger, and liked them more than Steps, so I'm just enjoying the fact that they've reformed!! I'm rooting for Hawkins and Brown. I can't listen to the clips at the moment, but I'm hoping that the song won't disappoint, as these two have potential to finish top 10. Maybe Cyndi too. Anybody heard the songs yet?
February 28, 200718 yr Scooch!!! Perhaps Big Brovaz would have had more success under the name Booty Luv :-)
February 28, 200718 yr The official date for MYMU is Saturday 17th March. This means we will be the last country to select our song. The BBC have permission from the EBU to go past the deadline and everything is Ok. The venue will hold a thousand people, and this late date means that we will be in the unusual position of knowing our place in the running order without actually knowing our song!
February 28, 200718 yr My thoughts on the 30 second clips: Brian Harvey - bland... I can't see it doing well in Helsinki. Scooch - ultimate cheese! :o But not in a good way. :( Liz McClarnon - seems to sound like it's gonna burst into "Son Of A Preacher Man". Not bad though I guess. Big Brovaz - I quite like this, but as Peter said, rap isn't popular in Europe so we'll flop if we send this. Cyndi - quite a good song here, but nothing really special about it. Could do ok in ESC. Justin Hawkins and Beverlei Brown - the best of the bunch by FAR. Very different and should go down well in Europe. I think this'll get picked and we should get over 50 points at least. Unfortunately though, on first listens, none compare to songs from Cyprus, Switzerland, Moldova or the Netherlands to me. :(
February 28, 200718 yr That list is almost as if we've given up already :| As somebody very correctly said on ESC Today, the Irish don't get slated for not sending U2 and the Spanish don't get slated for not sending Enrique Iglesias, so why is everybody complaining about the list?! We were never going to have Robbie Williams or the Scissor Sisters were we
February 28, 200718 yr After listening to the songs, despite saying how we need a girl with a ballad I am absolutely appalled at Cyndi's entry!!! It reeks of "You Raise Me Up" to such an extent it defies belief!! Should be disqualified without a doubt

February 28, 200718 yr I'm sure if we approached the Scissor Sisters they'd be up for it next year, it is SO their scene :(
February 28, 200718 yr well never say never ;) some pretty familiar names this year with partly international succes but i'm yet to hear the clips and than judge :)

March 1, 200718 yr Lol Brian Harvey's song which after hearing a 30 second clip I don't think will win, has been wrote by Grant Mitchell lol and also like some of you have mentioned, Cyndi really should not have been chosen to even compete in the 'Making Your Mind Up' show as it really is a complete and utter rip off of 'You Raise Me Up'. Having said that I don't think we should be too concerned as I don't think she will win either. Justin Hawkins and Beverlei Brown look like they have a real chance of winning. From the clip it sounds a really good, catchy tune which I can imagine doing very well in The Eurovision Song Contest. Liz McClarnon's 'Don't It Make You Happy' doesn't sound bad but also like someone earlier on mentioned, it really does sound like 'Son Of A Preacher Man'. Scooch's 'Flying The Flag For You' sounds just like I imagined when I heard the title - a Steps rip off which sounds a bit like 'A Deeper Shade Of Blue'. Out the the 30 second clips I have heard, I feel that Hawkins and Brown look huge favourites followed by Liz McClarnon and then third place between Brian Harvey and Big Brovaz.
