I love that we can still walk out without coats almost half way through November. When the sun goes, it gets much colder, quickly.

IT was quite warm today once the rain stopped

I must go and wash the dishes and do the ironing :o

I've been quite lazy(reflective) today.......partly because it's Sunday and I've always mainly respected Sunday as different from the other 6 days....but more especially because it's Remembrance Sunday.

We don't often get marching bands here. I don't think I've ever seen so many people in our town,

Our Boys Brigade used to have a fantastic pipe band but sadly their wonderful old Pipe Major passed away a few years ago and the band was discontinued. I miss them. However, it's still really nice to see all the youth organisations marching proudly past in respect. It reminds me that it's kids like them that are in fact in the majority, although there is more stress(too much IMO)on bad publicity for teens in the media.

My son used to get teased for being in the scouts. His answer was -this half term I'm absailing down bridges, canoeing, cooking over a camp fire and trecking through forest - what'll you be doing?

Mind you, he's always done what HE thinks he should rather than what anyone else thinks he should.

Good for him! What a great reply!

It was the done thing when I was young to be in an organisation. What I didn't fully appreciate at the time was how well the programme was structured. The tasks were set. You had to persevere until you had mastered each one before you got the badge. The leaders knew us so well. They knew what levels we'd already reached and the task was always set that bit higher eg my gran had taught me to knit and I could rattle off simple things like scarves, slippers, mitts, hats, so I had to knit a cardigan for myself. It took me ages but I was so pleased when I finished it.

I hate that too. No matter what products claim, I've never found one to make that chore a breeze. If anyone does happen to know of something that actually works without tons of hot water and elbow grease (grease being more often the operative word. Yeugh!)
I've never found an easy method. Now, I should be walking the dog. He normally goes out later but, although it's still sunny, I can see clouds building up.
We are usually lucky with the weather here. The 1986 hurricane was an exception.
