I wish I could instill some umpph in my daughter's thoughts on careers! she neds to start seriously thinking about uni, one moment she wanbts to go, next she doesnt..and so far she wants to the uni to "be by a beach" hardly helpful when choosing unis and courses! but at this age theres no advising them as they know it all.

I should be getting myself some dinner,

She'll find her way. Some people have to be really close to the wire before they can make key decisions. I've always been one of them. I must have made lots of people very nervous and concerned along the way.

They have to make their own decisions or they will not work.

I'm still hoping my son will make a firm decision for this September and stick to it.

You can't live their lives for them, just make sure they know right from wrong and be there for them if needed.

I still live in hope that my son will one day be able to support himself :)

I never knew what I wanted to do, so I symathise. I still think uni is good though, even if only to learn a little independance

How old is your daughter PIP? When does she need to decide?

My daughter would love to be a permanent student and has mapped out about 10 years of studying. My younger daughter isn't much better. She wants to be a psychiatrist. No wonder I have to work full time.

I should think about going to bed but I'm posting on here and chatting to a friend on msn.

Too right! It's great being a student. It's the time of your life where you seem to have far more than twenty four hours in every day .
I like the notion of being a student but not the studying

The studying's the part that only takes short periods of concentrated effort and organisation. It's almost negligible.

But I always attended lectures because no matter how accurate friends' notes were, I seemed to remember it all better if I'd heard it.

Briefly but I think I had too much caffeine and it kept me awake. I usually only drink decaffeinated in the late evening but I've run out of it. I don't feel a bit tired.
Hope you're both sleeping soundly now.

well shes got herself a part time job and is saying she hasnt got good enough grades anyway!! so who knows

its difficult, as you say we cant live for them - son is fine, he keeps saying the girls are mad if they want to work when they could do a course at uni and have just as much money!! then go on and find a much better job at the end. hopefully he will be fine as his course will end after the next year., as you say its not just the education, its the time to grow and learn to be more confident before you have to support yourself! I just dont think I can take having all of them at home grown up and still pestering me!!
