Posted March 2, 200718 yr Lucie Silvas and Josh Groban The singers join OK! at Mews of Mayfair for a gossip about dating, getting starstruck and being a diva! Borrowing a bit of Shakespeare: 'If music be the food of love, play on!' And when OK! got the chance to spend some time with two of the most exciting young singers on the pop scene, Lucie Silvas and Josh Groban, we had no hesitation about whisking them off to lunch at one of London's classiest new restuarants - Mews of Mayfair. British songstress Lucie Silvas burst onto the scene in 2003 with a debut album that sold 400,000 copies, and a voice and style compared to Delta Goodrem and Norah Jones. Now the pint-sized blonde is back with a stunning new album 'The Same Side' - her first new material in 3 years - which she describes as more mellow and chilled. 'I'm excited but also really nervous because I've been away for so long' confesses 29 year old Lucie. Lucie, you had a huge success in Britain a few years ago, but where've you been since then? I've been a lot busier working all over Europe - largely in Spain and Holland, where I seem to be really popular. Maybe they're not so fussy! I haven't recorded new material for a while, because I think my strongest point has always been in front of an audience. How would you describe your new album? This album is definitely a bit more low key, more mellow. Because of the big string arrangements on the first album, a lot of people expected me to go heavier still, but I don't want to be like any other female singer out there. The producer on the new album has worked with bands like Coldplay, and we recorded in a beautiful studio with Freddie Mercury's piano which was just amazing. You're been compared to singers like Delta Goodrem - Is that a good thing? I don't mind it. I really like Delta, she's got a beautiful voice. I do understand it, because I play piano and I've got blonde hair, and my first ballad was similar to hers. But if you see her live set, I think we're miles apart. I think I come from a more soul background. I get compared to Norah Jones and Christina Aguilera too, when I really sing out - not because I wear chaps, but theres time for that! Maybe when I hit my thirties! How do you feel about your 30th birthday in September? I'm quite excited! I'm not sure what to expect. Every year I think I'm going to get wiser, and I don't, but I'm hoping that you come out of your insecure twenties. I've changed so much since I was 21, I feel a bit more chilled out now. Lucie, do peope recognise you more in Holland than in the UK? Yes, even though I've sold more records in Britain, the awareness is different. If I walk down the street in Holland, I get 'Hi Lucie!' But not In England. I could walk around in my pyjamas with a bra strapped to my head and nothing would happen. But that's fine. I live a good life, I'm lucky - I go on tour with my band, which is the be all and end all of my music, and then I come home to Leicester, which is where I live because my boyfriend, Geordan Murphy plays rugby there. He also plays for Ireland. I have a place in London too, because it's easier for flying out to Europe, so we have two places, which keeps us apart a lot, but it's necessary. Do you watch Geordan play rugby? I do, but he still takes the p*** out of me, because he says I don't know what's going on. Then he comes to my concerts, and he'll say: 'Oh that bass line...' and I'll go: 'Don't pretend you know what's going on!' I do go to his games, I'm extremely proud of him. What did you do on Valentine's day? That was a bit depressing, I had to go to Holland. Geordan asked me: 'What do you want for Valentines day?' And I said 'Don't get me anything, be nice to me spontaneously on different dates in the year'. I'm a bit of a boycotter of Valentines day, because I think being romantic should be spontaneous. Lucie, you're only 5ft 1 - does that ever pose any problems performing? No, the only problem I have is reaching up to kiss my boyfriend, who's 6ft 2! Lucie's new single 'Sinking In' is released on March 5. The album 'The Same Side' follows on March 12.
