Jeff Buckley Source: Email / Updated: Mar 2, 2007 Obviously I agree with the Number 1 choice Think there's some other great singers that should have made the Top 10 though
March 3, 200718 yr Read this on the bus home today - great that Elvis is no 1 but what a load of c**p. The hack that "wrote" the synopsis of Elvis' career seems to just have cut n pasted the usual rubbish from other hackneyed peices. How can they rubbish whole parts of his career and still vote him no 1  Also a few non singers are in Ian Curtis and Johnny Rotten and people like Bing Crosby and Lous Armstrong are not included and some are totally rubbished Ozzy and Yoko (have they never heard O'Oh or Spec of Dust). Q morons  Edited March 4, 200718 yr by lonesome cowboy
March 4, 200718 yr Author Have to confess I haven't read the article, but quite frankly, it doesn't surprise me at all, Martin :rolleyes:I'll have to have a look at the piece as I haven't see the full 100. I was just amazed at the inclusions and omissions of the top 10 <_<
March 4, 200718 yr Author The ten Elvis songs listed in Q as "key songs" are: 1. That's All Right 2. Baby, Let's Play House 3. Mystery Train 4. Heartbreak Hotel 5. One Night 6. Jailhouse Rock 7. It's Now Or Never 8. In The Ghetto 9. Suspicious Minds 10. I Just Can't Help Believin' Great songs, but what frustrates me at times, is that there are so many more fantastic Elvis songs that the general public and the more casual fan has never heard of :(
March 8, 200718 yr See Elvis is getting slated in the other thread on this especially by one or two members who are too young to know a good singer if they were standing right in front of them. <_< You know who you are ;)
March 8, 200718 yr Author See Elvis is getting slated in the other thread on this especially by one or two members who are too young to know a good singer if they were standing right in front of them. <_< You know who you are ;) Doesn't surprise me in the least  I was only saying to someone today that I bet they only know a small percentage of the total songs Elvis recorded. I was the same until I started to really listen to him and collect his music ;) Don't think they realise what a versatile singer he was in terms of different genres of music. Who cares if he didn't write any songs, he didn't need to with a voice like he had I might not have agreed with all the choices of Q Magazine, it's just opinions after all, but they sure got it right with the #1
