April 14, 200619 yr Author yes it does!... or did anyway, where do you think the tag 'indie' comes from?.. the distribution? well actually some indie labels do sign bands that have a kind of family sound that fit in with other bands of there, like a marque of quality :D
April 14, 200619 yr yes it does!... or did anyway, where do you think the tag 'indie' comes from?.. I meant for me the label doesn't enter into it. I'm fully aware of what indie means. Technically Britney Spears is indie (Jive), Kylie was indie (PWL). There was a time when you could pretty much pick up anything on a certain label e.g. Factory, Rough Trade and know it would be good. It's not so easy now, but the smaller ones are still a good bet...so's Domino come to think of it.

Technically Britney Spears is NOT indie as Jive Records / Zomba Music Group is part of Sony BMG and i suppose has been owned or part owned by BMG for all of Britney's career. (note: i cannot say what the situation was before that as i wasnt born when the company was started and i havent got a link to info to tell me otherwise)
