yeah, when it flares up it's not only painfull but it also makes you put on weight...remember all those times we thought she was pregnant....that was her crohn's...everytime...and on 20/20 or whatever when it shows her walking round and she's like '5, 6, 7, 8' u can see how big her belly is there...the stress from cancer probably made her have a lil flare up of it :(

she probs has to take like 50 pills a day for it

and she'll probs have cancer check routines for the rest of her life :(

I never thought of it that way! :o :( I know she takes pills though, and she has to take steroids to (which probally bloat her up even more), and didn't she have another cancer-scare last christmas?

yeah...it was either last christmas or the christmas before that but she did have a scare :(

i think she needs to check every six months, because of cancer

then, probably from six months, she'll check every year

for my father, it worked this way...

Wow..never thought of it this way. Ana, take the time you need to finish the album! Your true fans will still wait for you. right guys?

and Josh, why does she have to take steroids?

I'll try and find the interview,

I dont think she means steroids as in the ones that bulk you up, make your muscles bigger, but ones that help with the pain I guess, ones that work in the same ways as pills.

maybe simes can explain it, sol

he has crohn's, him too

yup that is right ^_^ we will wait as long as it takes :D

And yeah I don't think you do have to take steroids with crohn's

deffo :D

and wunn; yeah I remember he said that. Wonder if he takes steroids too.. I thought there was only one type of steroids and that it was the one that made you grow muscles and all that like Josh explained.. hmm, weird

I dont know if you have to or not, but like I said, I'll try and find the interview where Ana said it. :P She said she has to take Pills and Steriods, and then the Crohns bloats up her arms and her belly or something.

Nope, there's all different types. Vitamins, Protien, Carb Steriods that don't bulk you up, but gives the body the nutrition that it needs. Then there's the type that I guess "reliefs" pain from the body if it's in a state of pain.

If that makes sence?

maybe she had to THEN, you know, as first attack to the disease...

and me too, i remember reading somewhere she took steroids and her face was like a moon...

Jepp, makes perfectly sense :D

oh i remember the face like a moon part...i think that was not long after her op for it...so when she was 13...i don't think she takes them anymore

YES! Thats the inteview that I read. She said she had/has to take steroids and when she does/did her face bloats up like the moon. :P

i didn't find the link, but i have this interview saved on my comp

it's from The Mirror

what do i have to do?

is it a scan or is it just typed up...if it's a scan just upload it or if it's typed up just copy and paste it here ;)

What happens when you have a flare is, initially you lose weight because you are not digesting food properly, then you have to take steroids, which really help, but they make you put on weight.

But steroids are not good for you long term, so after a while, when things have settled down, you come off them, until the next time you flare.

You have to take other tablets permanently, which hopefully increase the time between flare ups.

But what works for some people, doesn't work for others. I only have one type of drug but some need a mixture of different ones, and they all have side effects too.

Some people have crohn's so bad they never work again, but Ana (& me) are not so bad with it.

Also, some say that cancer is not a bad as crohn's as most cancers can be cured if caught early enough, but not crohn's, you're stuck with it for life.

And crohn's itself can lead to cancer eventually, but you are screened for it regularly, so if it happens, they should be able to treat it in time.

Some people have to avoid certain foods too, but I think Ana, like me, can eat what she likes.

And painful ain't the word, some women say it's worse than childbirth, I couldn't possibly say :P

Sorry, gone totally off topic, and I don't mean to bore anyone, just saying what it's like for Ana. ;)

found the link!

so stupid, i could search for 'Mirror'

The link didn't work :(

And Simes, you're not boring anyone, at least not me :P It was interresting to read and to get a lil understanding for what Ana (and other people with chrons are going through) cus it's kinda hard to imagine

well, can't say anything about the child birth part, cus I haven't had a baby yet, but period pains are.. PAINFUL..veeery painful
