Posted March 4, 200718 yr I want to do something. So I decided to create yet another topic for discussion. I've realized my list has changed so many times..it's hard to decide. :) I think this would be my list right now. :tries:  1. Ebudae 2. Caribbean Blue 3. Na Laetha Geal M'Oige 4. Exile 5. River 6. On Your Shore 7. Anywhere Is 8. I Want Tomorrow 9. Only Time 10. Someone Said Goodbye It changes so often. Instrumentals: 1. Oriel Window 2. River 3. The Promise 4. Boadicea 5. Drifting 6. Miss Clare Remembers 7. The Comb of the Winds 8. Lothlorien (I'm not sure if I have anymore to add to that list) Edited March 4, 200718 yr by On Your Shore
March 4, 200718 yr Ooh I shall have to think about this. :o It may take some time so I'll post later. :funky:
March 4, 200718 yr I've done it, with immense difficulty!!! I had to leave out Only If and It's In The Rain though unfortunately. :( 1. Orinoco Flow - it's still the ultimate Enya song for me. 2. Wild Child - this runs it VERY close, but OF will always be my fave Enya song I think. 3. Only Time - such a beautiful song. Just recently this has become one of my faves. 4. S Fagaim Mo Bhaile - a haunting, moving song that I discovered just a few months ago. 5. The Magic Of The Night - what a fab song this is. And what makes it better is that I'm only going to listen to it at Christmas times! 6. A Day Without Rain - the best instrumental by far imo. Nothing comes close, and is easily the best title track. ^_^ 7. May It Be - a beautiful song which is sung by Enya so fantastically compared to those others who cover it. I even heard people massacring it for the choir at school the other day. :arrr: 8. Water Shows The Hidden Heart - the best ending to an album ever. I just sat and listened in awe when I first heard it. 9. Anywhere Is - the song that introduced me to Enya, but has been ever so slightly overplayed by me, hence it's lower position. 10. Evening Falls - I want this at my funeral. It's such a moving song, with very meaningful lyrics and a haunting video.
March 4, 200718 yr Author Those are good choices. :) Now, we'll have to read Grace's input and anyone else that wants to post. ;)
March 6, 200718 yr Here is Grace's input: what are you trying to do, kill me? Now I have to agonize for hours about the songs I love that I'll have to leave out. Not only that, but I'll have to make decisions about what one to put on top and on bottom and in the middle...  Ok, here 'tis: Do I get a reward for this, btw? -_- Oh, the agony. 1. Shepherd Moons - for me, the epitome of Enya: a piano, layering, ethereal, melancholic, wispy voices, intonation, and a breathtaking melody. 2. Orinoco Flow - the other half of the Enya epitome: up-beat, yet not pop or rock, with all of the above. 3. Wild Child - so happy and carefree... bliss! B) 3. Evening Falls - I want this played at my funeral too, along with: 4. Fallen Embers 5. Athair ar Neamh - can't leave out the Gaelic songs! 6. Cursum Perficio - or the latin! 7. Anywhere Is - an adventure song, it makes me want to go wandering. 8. The Celts - can't leave the Celts out of Enya's music either. 9. Amarantine - still my favorite from that album. Love it, love it, love... 10. Lazy Days - the perfect ending song. That is what heaven will be like. One long, lazy day, where you can take a walk off in the rain, or lie in the sun, and you won't have "to go, now that I'm in the flow". B) Days "without want and without gloom". For instrumentals, Oriel Window is definitely on top. I'll have to think up a top ten instrumentals later. Ooh, my ulcer... 7. May It Be - a beautiful song which is sung by Enya so fantastically compared to those others who cover it. I even heard people massacring it for the choir at school the other day. :arrr: 10. Evening Falls - I want this at my funeral. It's such a moving song, with very meaningful lyrics and a haunting video. It's so easy to massacre May It Be. It's actually pretty hard to sing it so it sounds nice. :o Evening Falls is what I want at my funeral too! The lyrics, the melody, everything goes perfectly together to make such a hauntingly beautiful, sad song.  Me thinking about funerals at my age... Edited March 6, 200718 yr by grace
March 6, 200718 yr Ooh there are quite a few similar ones there Grace. :D How odd about Evening Falls though. :o It is a very funeral-type song though, but also the sort of song you could listen to every day. ^_^ I'll try and think about instrumentals as well. :D My #1 spot is well and truly taken though.
March 7, 200718 yr Author I think I'd like On Your Shore or Smaointe to be played at my funeral..and my wedding, Only Time..must be that one.
March 8, 200718 yr Ooh there are quite a few similar ones there Grace. :D How odd about Evening Falls though. :o It is a very funeral-type song though, but also the sort of song you could listen to every day. ^_^ I'll try and think about instrumentals as well. :D My #1 spot is well and truly taken though. Yeah, it's the perfect song to come after OF. ^_^ Instrumentals will be hard... Shepherd Moons is my favorite song, but Oriel Window is my favorite instrumental, even though SM is an instrumental. Kinda confused there about which one is which. I think I'd like On Your Shore or Smaointe to be played at my funeral..and my wedding, Only Time..must be that one. I've heard lots of people say they'd like OT at their wedding. That'd be cool. B) If I ever got married, I'd have... hmm, maybe Marble Halls or Shepherd Moons. :D
March 9, 200718 yr Well, after much painful thought, here's my top 10, which, like some others, tends to change at any time. 1- Ebudae 2- Orinoco Flow 3-The River Sings 4- Amid the Falling Snow 5-One By One 6- The First of Autumn 7- Flora's Secret 8- Boadicea 9- I Want Tomorrow 10-Paint the Sky With Stars I feel these songs need no explanation as to why I like them so much, or why I placed them the way I did, as even their placement on the list has a tendency to change, as well, for me. BTW, On Your Shore, who's the lucky man you'd marry, if you have a gentleman caller...
March 9, 200718 yr Author BTW, On Your Shore, who's the lucky man you'd marry, if you have a gentleman caller... "Only Time" will tell. ;) David, me and Big are both avid fans of Ebudae.
March 11, 200718 yr  Ebudae Fans... that has a nice ring to it. You should start calling each other that. "The Ebudae Fans are here!"
March 11, 200718 yr  Well, I'm fanatical about certain Enya songs too, so I guess I shouldn't laugh. :P
March 12, 200718 yr My top 10 favourites: 1. Orinoco Flow 2. River - It helps me sleep :-) 3. Silver Inches 4. Cursum perficio 5. Caribbean Blue 6. The Memory of Trees 7. Lothlorien 8. On My Way Home 9. After Ventus 10. Lazy Days
