singles who needs them when you own the album???

To support Robbie obviously. He doesnt deserve to have a great song like 'Shes Madonna' flop and get constantly slagged off just because alot of fans dont buy singles. I have the vast majority of his singles bar a few. :yahoo:

943 <_<

I would'nt be suprised. <_<

Rudebox got to #29 I think the week before on downloads and I don't even think SM is top 100

Robbie Williams - She's Madonna (EMI)

UK release date: 5 March 2007

Unless you're an absolute rock diehard who would rather slit your wrists with the A string of a Fender Stratocaster than admit that pop could ever take music's crown (or even a seat in its court), this can't really fail, can it? Robbie. Pet Shop Boys. Together. It's kitsch, it's as camp as a box of frogs, and of course it's completely and utterly brilliant, if you like disposable pop rubbish.

The single version has been watered down somewhat from the album track, however. Ironically, it's less Pet Shop Boys and more straightforward electro pop, stripped of its Kraftwerk electronic backbeat and those weird vocal samples that come in like a broken radio towards the end. It still works, though.

It's certainly significantly different enough that completist fans of both Robbie and the Boys will need both versions. Splash your cash and you'll not only get them, but a package complete with the kind of electro-disco instrumental that could suddenly find itself at number one for a 16-week spell, as well. Bargain.

I wish I had her optimism.

WITH Robbie in rehab and Take That tickets going for extortionate amounts, it's a strange time, indeed. Talk about role reversal. But, what of the song that many critics have slaughtered via the disappointing album reviews for 'Rudebox' ?

Well, The Pet Shop Boys certainly add some class to this grower of a track. But lyrically it is not as filled with as many ironic moments as you would expect.

Rhyming 'wanna' with 'Madonna' does mean that Robbie does sound kind of detached. But it sure beats listening to many of his whinging ballads which drone on about the price of fame.

Like the lady herself, this ode to the material girl of pop should not be written off entirely. It has a haunting quality to it and is definitely the best track on the album. It will probably tank because it's not the right time to say you like Robbie anymore.

This is a shame because it is much better than the awful 'Shine' by the famous four.

Right there said it all...

Its a shame isn't it..a great song going to tank because its not "in" to like Robbie anymore. That sucks.

If Robbie had released Lovelight or Madonna when he was "in" they both would have been No.1's.

I am also so confused because every review of the last two singles have been brilliant, saying its the best he has done in a long while, yet the album still gets slated. two great tracks off an album would normally help sales along, but all everyone is doing including Simon Cowell is rubbishing it.

Ah... but there is a reason for that..... they want to get Robbie away from being the most popular artist out there... . Its does not suit their Artists that he is the top guy with a huge worldwide audience & it does not suit the managers either as it affects their pockets as well.......

If Robbie's fans dont row in behind him he could have a problem...... things are very iffy at the moment...he is at the top of his career ... where does he go now......

I cannot quite figure out what is going on in people's minds. I am a serious follower of Robbie's music & will always buy his stuff but it looks like the UK fans only like one thing & that is Stadium anthems & ballads......

He definately needs to take a break for a couple of years... but what does he do in the meantime...

I just cannot see Robbie sitting stilll. it's not his style... he would be bored stiff but I get the feeling that some people in high places in the UK are out to break him & he is vunerable at the moment unless his management start doing some positive things to protect him.

I don't know what he should do but I tell you, if ever he pops up serenading Z list has-beens on 'Dancing on Ice' I swear I will top myself. <_<

Jupiter9 - You wont be alone on that one.... but he is sure to pop up somewhere eventually... he would make great telly ... all on his own......

I for one could watch him all night & he dosent' even need a support act.... Yum Yummy........

I just downloaded a copy from Woolies. That will definitely count towards the UK Chart.

Jupiter, your comment made me laugh, there was a great comment made in the Sunday paper last week as well, I presume you are thinking of the two tees.

AT THE RINK OF DESPAIR

Robbie Williams. Stay exactly where you are, please. Rehab looks the much better bet.

Especially if the alternative is writhing around with Torvill & Dean, in what looks like a 1990's Manchester festish club.

Yes, It's Take That, folks. Back where their careers have been for the last ten years. On ice at the Pink Rink.

ITV continueing to offer quality entertainment, for permanently housebound, sexually confused viewers, with Gary, Mark, Harold and Albert.

it is the first time I have laughed at his column. :D
