Posted March 7, 200718 yr This week I finally decided to give digital downloads a try instead of buying import singles from the UK or OZ (I mainly buy CD albums otherwise). I was surprised to learn that services such as itunes have geographic restrictions for download, ie only people residing in the UK can download tunes from itunes UK, and so on... Unfortunately itunes is not available in the country where I live (I currently live in Dubai), so I cannot download anything. I can just browse and listen to previews... <_< Do you guys know of any digital download services that do not have restrictions and allow downloads from all territories? Any help would be highly appreciated. :D

March 10, 200718 yr No, tried Napster too and faced the exact same problem... :( Thanks for helping anyway! mmm, i don't know then :( Well, you could use ebay and buy some itunes vouchers for another country eg the uk and buy songs from their itunes, i think this is possible because i remember some people in the delta forum doing this when she released "together we are one" to OZ Itunes. So you could always try that
March 26, 200718 yr Author Yeah, gift cards sounds like a good idea! I will give that a try. You dont have to enter any credit card details or billing address when you purchase songs using a gift card, so that could work. Thanks for the idea guys! I just bid on a gift card on ebay. Will keep you posted if it works or not. B)
March 26, 200718 yr I totally despise the whole idea of "Geographical restrictions" for downloading songs... Christ, the whole idea of the "World Wide Web" is that there are no bloody geographical restrictions..... <_< This is every bit as stupid as having Region encoding in DVDs..... To answer the question though, who says you have to limit your search to the legal download sites.....? Well, if these fukkers wont play ball and allow you to download stuff legally, then fukk 'em, just do it the pirate way, they're forcing your hand in a way...... There are lots of 'Torrent' sites out there, it's just a case of finding the right portal....

Words of wisdom mate, seriously! :D This is what I resort to doing, but sometimes it is hard to find rare mixes or b-sides in file sharing networks. This is where itunes comes in handy... Am still waiting for my gift card to arrive before I know whether it works or not.

Sites like music.yahoo.com and mtv.com won't let you watch videos anymore because of where you are in the world. It's completely pointless as the videos end up on youtube 5 minutes later. It completely destroys the idea of the "world wide web".
