im not talking about rock n rollers here, but the mid 60's had a load of ballad singers, engelbert humperdink, tom jones, val doonican, ken dodd, malcome roberts, donald peers.... i didnt like them, still dont, but ill give them credit for being individuals who could actually sing! unlike todays balladeers (who are groups of young men with barely a decent vocalist amongst them! ).

any thoughts?

Never a great lover of ballads, especially by blokes  ,but you're right they knew how to sing, especially some of the ones you mention.

Probably add Tony Bennett and Charles Aznavour.

Not too sure about Ken Dood, Val Doonican or Des O'Connor

i wouldnt add Aznavour to the list as he would be better being kept to a list of chansonniers

btw some engelbert humperdink and andy williams here in the pop section

i would put ken dodd in the list, he was a massive singing star in the 1960s, just look at his chart stats. think in the 50s/early 60s there were loads of all round entertainers who did comedy, ballads etc etc

Norman Wisdom was singing his song on the Comedy Map the other week. he's 92 you know!!!
