Too bad they didn't record the duet together.. Céline recorded her part early February in a studio in New York.. around midnight..

oh please... stop reminding me of this hideous news :( :( :( :(

So the question really should be asked.... when did Annie have that lobotomy?

Would be great if it was released as a single....

Annie's album either comes out in August (according to Undercover) or Q4 (according to Billboard), and Céline's will be out in October.. B)

Could do Céline some good in the UK and could do Annie some good in the rest of the world (US).. :D

Good to see Dave Gahan in the list, Q did quite a good job at getting behind the Mode in 2005 around the release of Playing the Angel and the Touring the Angel tour.

But at number 73? :(

Ok, he doesn't have the 'technically' best voice in the world (depends on how you judge it - to me it's perfect) . . . but as an earthly instrument of the universal rock-sex-love-death energy did it not deserve to rank higher than Tom Jones and Dolly Parton?

you know, snowbaby - I've always preferred Martin Gore's vocals.... my fave DM single is A Question of Lust (I can still imagine someone ridiculous like Shirley Bassey singing that one).....

Love Gahan's voice, too, though, even if I wasn't overly keen on his solo stuff.

Yeah, George Michael has a great voice, as does Tom Jones, but they clearly are'nt seen as being 'ccol' by Q

I agree, that list is a bit of a joke.

Elvis i'm fine with, and Aretha at 2 i definately deserves to be that high, she is probably the greatest female voice ever.

But there are certainly a few that needs to be higher, and some notable admissions, Annie Lennox & Alison Moyet which have already been said should be in there. George Michael for one, should be higher, definately Whitney! Come on, 98!!

And where is Martin Fry, Tony Hadley and Phil Oakey, they've more or less ignored the new romantic era.

And where is Mick Hucknall, surely one of the great voices around today.

Even JK & Joel had to admit what a great voice he had on the chart show on Sunday.

I didn't come to Depeche Mode until very late . . . about 2000, and in my ignorance just assumed that Martin wrote and Dave sang. It wasn't until the last couple of years that I've come to more fully appreciate the whole DM family, including how important Fletch is in keeping it all together.

And in that appreciation I've realised that many of what I'd assumed were Gahan's vocals were actually Gore's!!!

A Question of Lust is . . .   I have no words.

And Gore singing Goodnight Lovers on Touring the Angel quite literally sends shivers down my spine.

We don't mention Paper Monsters . . . ever . . . understand? It didn't happen, ok, it didn't happen

Celine & Annie Lennox?

Oh My.

I just don't think that would work somehow now P!nk and Kelis are quite similar in voice and style to Annie I would've thought.

Least she resisted the urge to hook up with Timbaland anyway <_<

Oh and that list in Q is $h!t.

Oh and Annie + Shirley Manson of Garbage missing from the list is an insult -_-

I did love the comments on Celine + Mariah though.

BJork is also much fabulousness.

Shockingly, I actually agree with you... When judging something like this, surely a fair amount of the criteria is based upon technical ability, and not on however you feel about the actual material itself.... Mariah and Celine irritate and bore the hell out of me, but to say they are technically bad singers is entirely wrong......

A list on technical ability alone would be much more interesting. It would have to include the likes of Lisa Gerrard, Diamanda Galas.... Sarah Brightman...kidding

nahhhh.... overrated karaoke artist... :P

Of course, that's your opinion, Rob, but obviously I'm going to disagree with that sentiment :) People seem to be locked into that 70s image of a jumpsuited Las Vegas performer and forget everything that came before. From the 50's rock & roll, to country, gospel, blues, pop, ballads....

Take a look at the article 'About his musical and singing style and as a vocalist' ;) It says it so much more eloquently than I ever could.

I just noticed that Norah Jones made the list!!
WORST 10

10 any death metal singer ever

Again, based on ignorance... Clearly they've never heard Opeth's Mikael Ackerfeldt, a very gifted vocalist who one minute can sing the sweetest harmonies you could wish for, then the next can project a roar of such force that even Satan would sh!t his pants.... Mind you, Opeth aint exactly what you would call a typical "Death Metal" band, they use elements of Prog Rock, Folk Rock and Blues in their music as well as the really Heavy stuff, quite often in the same song.... They should also listen to a guy called Fernando Ribiero as well.... From a Portuguese extreme Metal band called Moonspell....

Mind you, I suppose it all boils down to what those fukkwits at Q consider "Death Metal" really dunnit...? I'm betting they think that bands like Cradle of Filth or Slayer are Death Metal....

And former Nightwish vocalist Tarja Teruenen... She'd make Top 10 easily....

Diamanda Galas.... I've got a couple of her albums... I can honestly say that she is one of the very few vocalists out there who are genuinely terrifying... She manages to achieve the effect that many Death Metal singers attempt to achieve, but dont because, well, about 90% of them just come across as being a wee bit, erm, camp to be honest.....

You only say that because you're biased!

If an un-biased list made of of people with more than a few braincells (ie not Q writers) was done then he would not be number one. He was an alright performer, but like Freddy Murcury, he's not a great singer!

Of course I’m biased – what do you expect me to say, but I’m sure so are you ;) As a big Elvis fan, I’ve probably listened to a lot more of his music than you, and I stand by my opinion, but that’s what it is, my opinion. I’ve no problem with anyone who disagrees, because everyone has their own fave music styles and singers - the music scene has always been so diverse and that’s the great thing about it :D Be boring otherwise!

What a sh!tty list that is. Celine is much fabness :)
I am not an Elvis fan, but I would never dispute what a great distinctive and powerful voice he had, same goes for Freddie. Both had great voices, especially when live. Most of today's male singers are'nt on the same level vocally as either of them imo.

this Annie???

 i hope this got to number one all over Scandinavia
