Only a brief summary of each song, but I'll post a few day by day. :D

http://www.kolumbus.fi/jarpen/al.gif Albania: Aida & Frederik Ndoci - Balada E Gurit

Hmm well we begin with this tuneless piece of drivel from the Albanians. This is possibly my worst from the contest, a really dire attempt from Albania imo. They could've easily spent another month or so finding a better song! I'm fairly confident this won't qualify for the final, their songs seem to have gotten worse since their great debut in 2004. :(

http://www.kolumbus.fi/jarpen/an.gif Andorra: Anonymous - Save The World

An interesting song from Andorra this year - I can see this scoring highly from the UK in particular. This has the potential to do well, as it's quite a bouncy number and will no doubt go down well with punk type people all over Europe, but those horrible American accents they have is nasty. :o However despite all this, I think it will just miss out on the final - maybe by just a couple of points. I reckon it'll be close, but Andorra don't really have any neighbours, being in the middle of Spain and France. I could be wrong and it could go completely differently, but I'm reckoning another bad year for the Andorrans. :(

http://www.kolumbus.fi/jarpen/ar.gif Armenia: Hayko - Anytime You Need

Bad song from the Armenians this year imo. :( They did excellently last year to finish top ten, but even with a good position near the end of the draw I can't see this doing too well. Back to the semi-finals next year methinks...

http://www.kolumbus.fi/jarpen/au.gif Austria: Eric Papilaya - Get A Life, Get Alive

Will the Austrians drop out again next year? I think they could well do. This isn't a bad song, however and it could scrape up a few points in the semis, but probably not enough. Austria could be one of a few Western European countries considering dropping out next year. Will Austria EVER make the Eurovision final again? :(

http://www.kolumbus.fi/jarpen/blr.gif Belarus: Dmitri Koldun - Work Your Magic

One of the more favoured songs from this year's contest is this, and I'm warming to it quite nicely now. ^_^ People have been saying for a while he could be 2007's Dima Bilan, however I can't see it getting quite that high. This will sail through the semi-finals though and should finish high top ten in the final. I don't think we'll be in Belarus though next year, but at least they'll be getting their first experience of a ESC final!

Oh yes, I CONTROVERSIALLY changed my mind last time didn't I? B) Haha.

Only heard Andorra and will download Belarus now...

The chorus of the Andorra song is pretty catchy and Blink-182 like but I can't understand what they are saying in the verses :-0

Carola still won though :cheer:

Listened to Belarus now...sounds like Touch My Fire

It does doesn't it! :o It'll do a hell of a lot better though. :(

Javine was better...I find this a bit bland...will probably get the Balkan block votes but I don't think they usually benefit from them do they?

^_^ Here are some more:

http://www.kolumbus.fi/jarpen/be.gif Belgium: KMGs - Love Power

Eugh. What a DIRE song from the Belgians this year. :( I mean, this is truly horrible. They've gone from very good songs in 2003, 2004 and 2006 to this piece of absolute puke-worthy $h!te. They'll be staying in the semi-finals for 2008... or will they? They might just drop out altogether when this fails to qualify for the final...

http://www.kolumbus.fi/jarpen/bo.gif Bosnia-Herzegovina: Marija Sestic - Rijeka Bez Imena

Hmm this is one of those "ok" songs, which don't usually qualify from the semi-final... good job the Bosnians are already in the final then. :funky: Being first in the draw doesn't hold much hope for this, and I expect them to be firmly back in the semis next year, getting around 50 points, mainly from the Balkan bloc. Quite forgettable I'm afraid. :(

http://www.kolumbus.fi/jarpen/bu.gif Bulgaria: Elitsa Todorova & Stoyan Yankulov - Voda

Now THIS is more like it. :funky: Who cares if this opens the semi? The fact that it is SO memorable will mean that this should sail through. ^_^ I don't see this winning on May 12th, however a top ten position should most definately be in place. The woman needs to get her timing and stuff right though, it gets quite quick and energetic at some points. ^_^

http://www.kolumbus.fi/jarpen/kr.gif Croatia: Dragonfly f/ Dado Topic - Vjerujem u ljubav

What a disappointment. :( Croatia deliver year after year after year - in fact I can't think of a bad song since they first entered the contest. But this is bland. I reckon this'll be the first time the Croats aren't in the final since their debut in the early nineties. A few points from the Balkan bloc is likely, but I can't see it progressing.

http://www.kolumbus.fi/jarpen/cy.gif Cyprus: Evridiki - Comme ci, comme ça

An unfortunate draw for Cyprus here, performing third could well dent their hopes of getting through... though only slightly. I still believe this is a potential winner and a good draw for the final would give it a huge boost. One of the better songs, though performing in French is a disadvantage... still, 12 points from France are near-guaranteed now!

More soon. ^_^

12 points from France 2 Cyprus and don't forget about their 12 points from Greece

great job David  can't wait ur view on the Macedonian song ^_^

http://www.kolumbus.fi/jarpen/cz.gif Czech Republic: Kabat - Mala Dama

If I'm completely honest, I don't remember a great deal about this song, but there was evidently a good reason for that. I remember finding it bland, and not really going anywhere - nowhere near a place in the final. :( Better luck next year Czechs.

http://www.kolumbus.fi/jarpen/dk.gifDenmark: DQ - Drama Queen

Hmm this is a strange song. It's not that bad, to say it's a drag act. This is the sort of song that the Danes will expect to go through the final with apparent ease, but I don't think it will. This is probably going to be the song that finishes around about 12th, and will hit the Danish fans hard.

http://www.kolumbus.fi/jarpen/ee.gif Estonia: Gerli Padar - Partners In Crime

I was quite intrigued to hear that a relative (I forget how) of Dave Padar's was going to be entering, but the song is somewhat forgettable. What was once such a successful country in the Eurovision (1999-2002) is now showing very poor displays. :( Even a good song last year couldn't get them through, and I don't think this will either. This will be the fourth year in a row that they have been absent from the final.

http://www.kolumbus.fi/jarpen/fi.gif Finland: Hannah Pakarinen - Leave Me Alone

This is quite a strong song from the Finns, but I don't think it can emulate the success of Lordi last year. The Finnish should be pleased if they finish top ten with this, as it has quite a bad draw at fifth. There's nothing overly rememberable about this though, and 2008 could see the start of another semi-final era - if the rules stay the same of course.

http://www.kolumbus.fi/jarpen/fr.gif France: Les Fatals Picards - L’amour à La Française

An interesting song from France this year, one that should do a lot better than the French have done in recent years. With four years of miserable results, it's high time the French put something right, and I think this song could finish mid-table somewhere, which will be slightly better than usual. Also their best song for a few years.

Only heard France, Finland & Estonia out of that lot...

France is very good, the other two are just good

Sweden have done another excellent song too I see though very different from their usual scandi-pop

http://www.kolumbus.fi/jarpen/fyr.gif FYR Macedonia: Karolina - Mojot Svet

This is good. Very good. The best Macedonian entry ever by a mile. This should get through the semis very easily, and possibly get a by to next year's final. This song is instantly catchy and doesn't have a bad draw for May 10th, much better than last time Karolina!

http://www.kolumbus.fi/jarpen/ge.gif Georgia: Sopho Khalvashi - My Story

I must say I rather like this song. ^_^ It's a really good debut from the Georgians, but for some reason I don't see it qualifying for the final. :( This year's semi is packed full of quality songs so I think Sopho could miss out. If it does get to the final however, she could well strive for a top ten finish.

http://www.kolumbus.fi/jarpen/de.gif Germany: Roger Cicero - Frauen regier'n die Welt

I really don't like this, it's very odd to me. :o And I think it'll be another poor finish for the Germans on May 12th. Last year's song from Texas Lightning was pretty good, but apart from that I've only really liked Michelle (2001) from them in the last ten years.

http://www.kolumbus.fi/jarpen/gr.gif Greece: Sarbel - Yassou Maria

How many times will Greece [or Cyprus] try this type of song? I'm getting pretty tired of them tbh, after seeing so many Cypriot flops and Sakis Rouvas finishing third in 2004. I can see this flopping, it's not as catchy as Sakis and much of the Europeans could well agree with me. It rather reminds me of France's 2003 entry - they thought they were playing safe with their ballad type songs, but it wasn't third time lucky for them. :(

http://www.kolumbus.fi/jarpen/hu.gif Hungary: Magdi Rúzsa - Unsubstantial Blues

This song is distinctly average. Not a fantastic comeback from the Hungarians, but not that bad either. I don't really have a great deal to say about this, except that I don't think it'll qualify.

The German song would be better in English...its not that its bad I just don't like the German language...its very harsh

Notice he mentions Posh and Beckham in it too...

I'm really interested in your review for Serbian song. :D
