Games according to Scissor Sisters

Scissor Sisters have just played an exclusive gig to a groove-struck crowd of just 200 lucky people in Val d'Isère. They caught everyone by surprise at the Xbox Big Day Out on Wednesday with a performance of their new “She’s My Man†remix, which of course we all loved. Afterwards we sat down right next to front-man Jake Spears and softly spoken lyricist Babydaddy (they asked us to, okay) and chatted a lot about games. We lead such a tough life.

Xbox.com: What made you choose “She’s My Man†to accompany “Halo Wars

Babydaddy: Because the trailer was very dark, it was very aggressive and we wanted something dark and aggressive.

Xbox.com: After the track was unveiled, you guys said you’re big fans of adventure games…

Jake: We’re huge fans of adventure games!

Xbox.com: …so what are some of your defining moments in games, what do you really enjoy?

Babydaddy: Well I grew up on the King’s Quest games, as did Jake. And the Zeldas, which I sort of put in that category.

Jake: The LucasArts games for me are just, they’re just the End All. Secret of Monkey Island, Monkey Island 2, Curse of Monkey Island… every other year I throw a bi-annual party. It’s the 10 anniversary next October. Monkey Island parties! I’ve called them Escape From Monkey Island, the next one was Return to Monkey Island and the last one was I Was A Teenage Monkey Island, and the next one I think will be A Very Special Monkey Island.

Xbox.com: Awesome! How is your Insult Arm Wrestling?

Jake: I’m actually very good at insults. Even to this day if you put me in front of Monkey Island, I can pretty much do the insults.

Xbox.com: Excellent! So you guys mentioned that you were thinking about making a Scissor Sisters game… potentially. How would you envisage this being?

Jake: We were actually talking with Ron Gilbert; having phone conversations with the guy who developed the Monkey Island games. Maybe someday it’s something we could still do, but it just costs a lot of money. And it’s also kind of a weird thing, because nobody really plays adventure games anymore except for weird people who, like, make them themselves! People like making the homemade download adventure games. So, it’s almost like, who would you be making the game for? We wanted to do it, but then it’s like who’s gonna would play?

Xbox.com: Today you could’ve given birth to a whole load of Scissor Sister Adventure fans.

Babydaddy: Well, who knows. Maybe somebody will give us a call, and say they heard our desire to make a game of our own.

Jake: It would just need to be as good as a Scissor Sisters record…

Babydaddy: …yeah, we’d want something fun. We’d want something really cool and mysterious and fantastical. Also something with a little bit of our sense of humour.

Jake: It would have to be really funny. The jokes would have to be super good.

Babydaddy: Or super bad, as we do…

Jake: Yeah, really bad.

Xbox.com: You mentioned you’re big fans of scary games generally, horror games? What are some of your favourites?

Jake: Dead Rising, which I love. Babydaddy hasn’t gotten into it yet have you [to Babydaddy]?

Babydaddy: No, I don’t have it. Can you get it for me?

Jake: I don’t know what they’re gonna put the next Resident Evil out on. I think Resident Evil 4 is one of the best games ever made.

Xbox.com: The Gears of War team say Resident Evil really inspired them to make that game.

Babydaddy: Gears of War is genius. It was a little too short, dare I say…

Xbox.com: How are you feeling about playing your fans in your Game With Fame session?

Babydaddy: We’re gonna die. We’re just gonna die.

Jake: But you know what, we’re gonna give this a really good shot. We’re gonna drive away the Sumo game as much as we can!

Babydaddy: The Sumo game is my favourite.

Jake: It’s like the “Xanadu†of videogames [laughs].

Babydaddy: This is like a new version of “Tronâ€. It’s like “Tronâ€.

Xbox.com: You’ll be chatting with fans too…

Babydaddy: You see that’s scary, I don’t know if I can do that…I’m gonna keep quiet. We’ll see.

Jake: Can I ask them what they’re wearing?
