April 8, 200718 yr Author Source: http://www.keithm.ut(...)Helsinki2007poll.htm This year "All Kinds Of Everything" sought the opinions of visitors to the site, by conducting a poll on all 42 competing songs competing in the 2007 Eurovision Song Contest in Helsinki. Visitors were asked their opinion on the entries at random, and almost fifty thousand votes were cast, making it one of the biggest polls on the internet. People could rate songs on a ten scale of 10 ("the best" to 1 ("the worst" , with eight rating points inbetween. As songs gained received over a thousand ratings, they were removed from the poll and other entries added. This is the second successive year that "All Kinds Of Everything" has conducted this type of poll. In 2006 visitors chose the Bosnian entry "Lelja" sung by Hari Mata Hari (left) as their favorite, just ahead of the German entry "No No Never" performed by Texas Lightning with the Romanian entry "Tornerò" sung by Mihai Traistariu in third place. Lordi's "Hard Rock Hallelujah" which won the contest in Athens, finished down in 15th place, while Russia's runner-up "Never Let You Go" sung by Dima Bilan did slightly better on the poll, finishing 11th. The song which finished bottom of the poll was the Lithuanian entry "We Are The Winners" by LT United, which despite its unpopularity in some circles, still managed to gain a Top 10 result in Helsinki. As with last year's poll, a little adjustment had to be made to counteract people artifically trying to vote songs up and down. Just like last year, it was necessary to adjust the ridiculously high number of top and bottom votes, while keeping them in line with the total number of votes. In one especially bad example, 55% of people voting for the U.K. had them eight as "the best" or "the worst", in almost equal measures. The adjustment made very little different to the overall ranking, and left the leading entries unchanged. The clear winner of "Vote 07" and the favourite entry of visitors to "All Kinds Of Everything" is the Macedonian entry "Mojot Svet" (My World) sung by Karolina Goceva (pictured left). Second place does to Cyprus and Evridki with "Comme Ci Comme Ca" which was leading until the last couple of days of voting, while the Dutch entry completes a hatrick for female solosists and for songs competing in the semi-final, with Edsilia Rombley "On Top Of The World". Remarkably the highest placed automatic finalist is the Bosnian entry, which finished down in 8th place. Even after the adjustment, the U.K.'s entry "Flying The Flag" by Scooch seems to be the "love it or hate it" song for 2007 and it finishes in 28th position on the poll, one place ahead of the Irish entry "They Can't Stop The Spring" sung by Dervish. As for the bookmakers favourites for victory in Helsinki, there is mixed news; the Swiss entry "Vampires Are Alive" sung by DJ Bobo finished in 15th place, considerably higher than the Swedish entry "The Worrying Kind" by The Ark which finish 25th. Of the three favourites; it was the entry from Belarus that did best on the poll, as "Work Your Magic" by Koldun finished 4th. Below you can see a table of how each song rated based on its adjusted average score, and a graphic showing you how people voted. The star rankings, which will be used on the country's profile pages are based on how peope voted. Higher than a rating of 6.5 = 5 stars Higher than a rating of 6 = 4 stars Higher than a rating of 5 = 3 stars Higher than a rating of 4 = 2 stars Velow than a rating of 4 = 1 stars 01.
