Posted March 19, 200718 yr NEW TOUR DATES ANNOUNCED RHCP.com is happy to announce that Red Hot Chili Peppers will play the Reading Festival on August 25th in Berkshire, UK and the Leeds Festival on August 26th in Bramham Park, UK as part of the Carling Weekend ---- i'd heard rumours, and now it's been confirmed! :D
March 19, 200718 yr So they are playing then? :o Should be pretty good. I think this will be the only festival appearance from them this year in the UK now, so it'll be pretty unique to Leeds and Reading! Are they headlining though?
March 19, 200718 yr Author So they are playing then? :o Should be pretty good. I think this will be the only festival appearance from them this year in the UK now, so it'll be pretty unique to Leeds and Reading! Are they headlining though? yes, they are headlining the main stage on one of the days with Razorlight and the Smashing Pumpkins headlining the other days.
March 19, 200718 yr yes, they are headlining the main stage on one of the days with Razorlight and the Smashing Pumpkins headlining the other days. Ahhh I see. :D ^_^
March 20, 200718 yr http://i11.tinypic.com/4dhbl2c.jpg That's the line up so far...well I hope more acts are announced because the line-up on the whole just seems well a little bit tame.

March 21, 200718 yr With the exception of RHCP the headliners are awful. I like Razorlight but I don't think they're good enough or are the right sort of act to be headliners. I can't believe The View are headlining the Radio1/NME stage either! I'd have thought they'd be much better acts to do that.
April 18, 200718 yr I'm really looking forward to this :D They're on the last day in Leeds which'll be so good!
August 24, 200717 yr Playing Leeds/Reading this weekend! ^_^ They're playing Reading on Saturday and Leeds on the Sunday I think. Should be good anyway! :D
August 26, 200717 yr Volume problems threaten set but band come through to close day two Red Hot Chili Peppers played a two-hour headline set on the Main Stage tonight (August 25), but their show was threatened by similar volume problems that threatened to scupper The Killers headline slot at Glastonbury earlier this year. As the band began their set with an extended funk jam at 21:40 BST, sections of the crowd nearer the back of the audience began shouting, Turn it up! repeatedly, as the sound was failing to carry to the back section. of the crowd at high volume. Following the jam, singer Anthony Kiedis and his band dropped into Cant Stop, but cut their instruments in and out of the song repeatedly, prompting boo-ing as well as more calls for the volume to be raised. But despite preceding most of their songs with a two-minute bass-funk jam, the Red Hot Chili Peppers began to win over the crowd with a series of greatest hits, such as Dani California, Scar Tissue and Californication. Bassist Flea attempted to lighten the mood by telling a joke before playing Snow. What do you call a sheep with no legs? he asked the crowd, before delivering the punch-line: A cloud. Before leading his band through Wet Sand, Keidis paid tribute to Arcade Fire, who had played before his band on the Main Stage, saying, Got to love that Arcade Fire. The set was slow-paced and relaxed, with the band picking slower numbers from their back catalogue to perform. After a chilled-out version of By The Way the band left the stage casually, before returning five minutes later for an encore. Before leaving the Main Stage for good, the Red Hot Chili Peppers played CMon and Give It Away, then Keidis left the stage waving. His bandmates then embarked on a 15-minute slow funk jam to close the set, with Flea swapping his bass guitar for a trumpet for a small section. Red Hot Chili Peppers played: Can't Stop Dani California Scar Tissue 21st Century Parallel Universe Snow This Velvet Glove Wet Sand Emit Remmus Don't Forget Me Warlocks She's Only 18 Californication By The Way C'mon Give it away Source: NME.com
August 26, 200717 yr 'Anthony Keidis jumped on sound cable' says band spokesperson -7 minutes ago Red Hot Chili Peppers' spokesperson has explained to NME.COM why their set was troubled by volume problems last night (August 26) during their headline appeance on the Main Stage at the Carling Weekend: Reading Festival. As previously reported on NME.COM, during the start of the band's set members of the audience boo-ed and shouted "Turn it up!" repeatedly, as the sound failed to carry to the back section of the audience. Today the band's spokesperson has told NME.COM that the problems were caused by Anthony Kiedis treading on a power cable while dancing, during opener 'Can't Stop'. According the the spokesperson, Kiedis jumped on the cable by accident, causing the problems, and his band responded by cutting their instruments in and out of the song amongst the confusion. Some audience members had interpreted the cutting in and out as the band performing extended jams, but according the the Red Hot Chili Peppers' spokesperson this wasnt the case. After four songs volume seemed to be restored and the band finished their two-hour set free from further volume-related chants from the crowd. Source: NME.com
August 27, 200717 yr LA rockers triumph on the Main Stage Red Hot Chili Peppers closed the Carling Weekend: Leeds Festival tonight (August 26) with a triumphant show on the Main Stage. The LA rockers ended the three day bash with a hit packed set laced with tracks from their 2006 album 'Stadium Arcadium', 2002 LP 'By The Way' and 1999 album 'Californication'. Unlike their Reading set which was dogged by sound problems, tonight the Chilis' headlining show went off without a hitch with the band performing a tight set throughout. The performance wrapped up an 18 month trek across the globe which guitarist John Frusciante acknowledged as the band arrived onstage when he declared: "We have been on tour for a year and a half and this is our last show. We just want to thank our crew past and present." The band then launched into an extended intro to 'Can't Stop' before the crowd sang in full voice once the track kicked in. The Chilis mixed up their set from Reading, which was watched by Eagles Of Death Metal singer Jessie Hughes, throwing in fan favourite 'Other Side', 'Charlie', 'Throw Away Your Television', 'Get On Top', 'So Much I Wish' and 'C'Mon Girl'. Towards the end of the show bassist Flea told the crowd: "Thank you for waiting around to see us. I know there was lot of music over the last three days so thanks for coming. All we have ever wanted to do is warm your hearts." With the Chilis wrapping up proceedings with classic hit 'Give It Away', singer Anthony Kiedis also drew reference to the end of their world tour. "Thank you it has been a hell of a run," he said. "We came here to give a little love and get some back too. Goodnight." Red Hot Chili Peppers played: 'Can't Stop' 'Dani California' 'Other Side' 'Charlie' 'Throw Away Your Television' 'Snow (Hey Oh)' 'Get On Top' 'Emit Remus' 'Don't Forget Me' 'So Much I Wish' 'She's Only 18' 'Warlocks' 'Californication' 'By The Way' 'C'mon Girl' 'Give It Away' Source: NME.com
