Enter Shikari sound NOTHING like Jesus Jones. Where is the text of this review? People accuse me of lazy comparisons, but at least I've never made one that lousy.

I dont think its about sounding like the two bands its more of a comparison of useless bast*rd genre hybrids.

Well, I didn't have much to go on with your post, I thought that's what you were getting at.

Jesus Jones / EMF / Carter / Happy Mondays / Stone Roses / Pop Will Eat Itself / Candy Flip / Paris Angels / Screamadelica-era Primals etc weren't useless hybrid bands, they were about embracing the new styles of the time - dance and hip hop - with the jangly indie of the mid-late 80s.

Enter Shikari and other less-heralded bands like colonopenbracket have at least improved on their base sound (rrrrroooaaaaaarrrr vocals about not having a girlfriend) by incorporating gabba, synthcore, electro and rave. Just imagine how $h!te it would sound without those elements.

They still sound pretty sh!te though....

I was a fan of some of those aformentioned - PWEI, Carter USM, Stone Roses, Primal Scream, Happy Mondays.... Jesus Jones had one or two moments.... EMF I always thought were a hopeless, watered down version of PWEI to be honest...

EMF were accused of being a watered-down version of Jesus Jones who, themselves, were a watered-down version of Pop Will Eat Itself!

Yeah, I think we're long overdue a PWEI revivial - Hadouken! sound like they're heading in the right direction.

All stems from the same thing though dunnit...?

To be fair Jesus Jones made only two good singles (IMHO): the worldwide monster hit Right Here, Right Now & their debut:

Jesus Jones - Info Freako (1989)

Mind you I agree they were an inferior commercial version of Pop Will Eat Itself:

Who probably got the idea from the first ever Rock'n'Rap crossover record which predated the Run DMC/Aerosmith collaboration on Walk This Way by over 2 years:

Afrika Bambaataa & John Lydon - World Destruction (Timezone) (1984)

Now this would have been a better song for Girls Aloud v Sugababes to cover for Comic Relief???

Totally!

My fave Jesus Jones song is Who? Where? Why? - not their best known, but still great.

Erm, why, so they could make a total arse of this one too...? Bad enough they pished on Aerosmith and Run DMC, pishing on Johnny Lydon would have made me want their blood.... <_<

Sorry, it would need someone with a LOT more artistic credibility than Girls Aloud or Sugababes to tackle this song....
