The original "Hills Have Eyes 2" was absolute garbage, this remake can't possibly be any worse...... Wes Craven had already began the process of tarnishing his reputation when he made this totally unnecessary and wholly idiotic sequel (you know it's gonna be pretty bad when the dog starts having flashback sequences.... )

The plot of this one frankly sounds like a total rip-off of "Southern Comfort" - a really pretty damn good film about a platoon of National Guardsmen who fall foul of the locals in the Louisiana Bayou and start getting picked off one by one...

I'm going to see it in the next 2 weeks. Loved the film last year and liked the original 1st film.

Yeah, it was about the only remake which actually did something interesting with the concept and could actually not be considered insulting to the original.... I think that the fact it was so good was more down to Alexandre Aja (who directed the incredible French shocker "Switchblade Romance") and his writing partner than anything Wes Craven contributed (Craven's reputation has become incredibly tarnished over the years..)... I'm frankly troubled by the fact that Aja is not involved with Hills Have Eyes 2.... I dont think it's gonna be nearly as interesting without him...

well he's remaking Pirhana. However good Switchblade Romance romance was i'll leave my verdict on him until i've seen more of his films just incase he turns out to Hollywood's remake specialist.

btw the times gave the new film 1 star.

I've seen it today, while its not as bad as a one star stinker like Norbit or I want Candy it is not great either. I was bored.

like boybands its another horror film produced on a production line. at so many times in the film you can count the beats till the scare.

and as i had seen the trailer for Sunshine  before I was thinking why wasnt at home (in the dry) watching my mum's Alien DVD (which is suppose to be one of the best horrors ever as well as SF/action thriller) as esp when it went underground to meet the mutants it could have as well been a space station crew vs aliens. (I would go as far to bill it in 4 words as 'Alien meets the Goonies'  )

dont bother waste £6 on this (if you havent got a cineworld card) get a copy of the decent insted it xxx times better and about the same price as well now on dvd

What's the gore/violence like?

I've persuaded my friend to go see it with me and shes terrible with that kind of stuff

What's the gore/violence like?

nothing interesting, nothing too squishy

It's a rubbish film.... So, this is, what, twice now that Wes has had a stab at doing a sequel to his original film, and has failed again to come up with a decent story....

It's just "The Descent", only nowhere near as good....

Tbh I think Wes killed the movies with all the sequals he came out with,

yet this remake looks quite good ^_^

Isn't that the film with the women in the cave? I hated the ending of that film..

Yeah it is. You're right the ending isn't that great, but I suppose the actual ending is more believeable than what we thought the ending was gonna be.

I love the ending of "The Descent", it's basically her accepting her fate and that she will be with her dead daughter soon. The pathos of it is amazing... Jeez, you guys have no souls...... :P

I liked the ending as well, as it was different to your typical horror film ending as they all died, where most times you get at least one surviour. It's just when I saw the film and it's ending it reallu cinfused me to begin with. :(

maybe their souls have been all replaced with evil-jazz-funk

I love the decent, probably the last horor i've seen at the cinema that i was impressed by and nt production line

  • 2 weeks later...
definately not as good as the 1st film from last year. a bit slow and lack of a proper story. pity really.
do you get to know the characters as well as you do in the first one?

The second film really has no characters.... Just a bunch of third-hand "War Movie" stereotypes that try to pass for characters.... Utter rubbish...
