Posted March 25, 200718 yr British flag-fliers Scooch have hit back after scathing comments by singer and chat-show host Charlotte Church this week. Ms Church, in her online video diary, slammed the band as "absolute s**t", confessing that the performance "made every pore in my body itch with embarrassment". The attack also targetted the Making Your Mind Up contest itself, which Church also dismissed as "absolute s**t". She did admit, however, that she thought Cyndi should have won: "Cyndi had a good voice and it was a reasonable song". In a press release from the band's management, Russ Spencer, Natalie Powers, David Ducasse and Caroline Barnes admit that they are dismayed to hear the singer, known as having the "voice of an angel", had launched an unprovoked monologue about the group and their song "Flying The Flag (For You)". In Russ' words, "what a pity the voice of an angel has acquired the mouth of a sewer". Natalie adds "As a mother of a young child myself I find her behaviour and language quite unacceptable. What kind of role model is this for a mum-to-be?". Oposing camps The song has certainly been the cause of lots of heated discussion in the UK, and as ever with Eurovision, opinion is split down love-hate lines with both camps clearly having much to say. But singer Caroline expresses her concern about the way this is vocalised: "It is natural that not everybody is going to like our song. For some reason good fun pop music offends some people. But there is a POLITE way to express your opinion, something that Charlotte wasn't able to do", she says. David concludes with a severe ticking-off aimed at the young singer and TV star: "The British public voted for us so we would hope that their opinion would be respected. We would also hope that our entry would be shown patriotic support, particularly by people who are fortunate to have been placed in positions of influence. Charlotte's outburst seems to be a cheap, and attention seeking, reaction of a young lady who should know better". ESC Today
March 25, 200718 yr Author Well Charlotte Church has always got on my t*ts, so there's nothing new here. -_-
March 26, 200718 yr In Russ' words, "what a pity the voice of an angel has acquired the mouth of a sewer" Nice one Russ! Natalie adds "As a mother of a young child myself I find her behaviour and language quite unacceptable. What kind of role model is this for a mum-to-be?" The sexual innuendo is a good role model too!
March 26, 200718 yr Well, the cussing and language aside, Charlotte is totally spot on as far as I'm concerned.... Scootch are a joke, the bloody programme itself was a joke... You do realise that Scootch only got voted for by p!ssed people looking for a laugh on a Saturday night, don't you.....? "Unprovoked attack"?? Nonsense, Scootch have infected our ears with their cheesy, inane, sh!t which is offensive to any person with taste, so I would call that very much a provocation.... :P
March 26, 200718 yr I 100% agree with Charlotte. I'm supporting the (slightly tongue in cheek) campaign launched today by Radio 2 Dinnertime DJ and BBC Political journalist Jeremy Vine to make Cyndi's I'll Leave My Heart a bigger hit in the UK than a 3rd rate Steps outfit who've made the worst record of 2007 so far.
March 26, 200718 yr For sure it would be nice if everyone in the country got behind our entry but that's never gonna happen and i think everyone is perfectly entitled to their opinion just as Scooch are entitled to answer back. I also feel I am therefore entitled to say Charlotte can come across as a bit of a cow ^_^

I think anyone that may see Scooch in the street or doing PA for this record.... take a dump in a paper bag, and hurl it at them... it's the only way. Or do the Sharon Osborne trick... get a posh box... dump in it... and send it to their management... it's not more than they deserve.....
March 26, 200718 yr I agree with charlotte, it was hilarious when she slagged scooch off on her tv show, so true ^_^
March 27, 200718 yr Pot calling the kettle black. Charlotte Church's show is the epitome of 'absolute $h!t' - the difference is that Scooch know this is a one off camp performance - Church continues to believe she's funny, entertaining and not a mouthy wee prick.

I also feel I am therefore entitled to say Charlotte can come across as a bit of a cow ^_^ I'll get behind a British Eurovision entry when we stop taking the fukkin' pish and actually send a decent tune and a proper, professional act or artist that actually represents our British musical heritage, not joke outfits like Daz Sampson or this rubbish.... We could've had Morrissey in Helsinki representing us, he did offer, just remember than when you choose to be a cheerleader for this pile of utter mediocrity....

I think the reason Morrissey didn't go any further though was because he didn't get a song ready in time. The BBC did stress he wouldn't be taking part in 2007, so who knows about next year? :funky:
March 27, 200718 yr scooch are one of the most talked about uk entries now for a few years Yeah, people are mainly talking about how sh!t they are.... :P Hardly the way you would really want to be talked about....
