Love Slade, great band, awesome tunes.

This was their last hit, but not their last single which was 'Universe' but it failed to make the Top 75,

i remember hearing it on Round Table back in the day, still have that edition on tape somewhere.

To be fair when it came out I thought it was Def Leppard's Joe Elliott (when it was actually the Bands co-songwriter Jim Lea) duetting with Noddy Holder on the Slade single.

The only thing that stopped it being great was using Mike Read as the DJ instead of Tommy Vance which would have been much better.

for a moment i thought this was Mike Read as in the comedian from Eastenders but thats Mike Reid innit?.

you might like to know that Mike Read and 'Diddy' David Hamilton (i wonder if he has sued  ) are on radio station called the Big L and Mike Read is on the radio now and on Get Your Act Together next Tuesday following Saxon and Samantha Mumba

wikinfo:

Big L is a United Kingdom based radio station broadcasting via satellite, mediumwave (using a transmitter in the Netherlands) and the Internet. The station is named after the 1960s offshore pirate radio station Radio London which was also known as Big L. Many of its jingles are derivative of the original Radio London jingles.

Using the slogan "The Heart and Soul of Rock and Roll", the station claims to broadcast the best music from the past 50 years. Presenters as of 2006 include David Hamilton, Ian Damon, Mike Read and Ray Anderson.

Fed up with bland radio stations playing the same songs over and over again?

You've come to the right place -

Welcome to BIG L.

Big L is an independent commercial radio station with a vast library of songs you'll never tire of and presenters who have been part of listeners' lives for years.

Covering five decades of music, you can expect to hear Scissor Sisters next to Siouxsie Sioux, Keane next to Cliff, The Beatles next to Blur and Abba next to Adam Ant.

No other UK commercial station does this...they wouldn't dare.

It's refreshing, it's entertaining and most of all IT'S ALL ABOUT THE MUSIC.

---------------------------------

Big L is exclusively speaking to a small number of potential advertisers who can gain most from advertising with Mike Read, David Hamilton and the station’s other outstanding DJs. This is a “launch pad†offer as it is both limited and short-term, so you’ll need to move fast to get the best rates and airplay times.

If you need help with making your advert, Big L can guide you towards a complete range of specialist help – anything from copy writing and precise editing, to creative advice, expert studio help and exclusive voice-overs, Big L has access to the skills, experience and technology to make your advertising special.

Is your business big or small? It really doesn’t matter because both benefit from the specialised radio advertising that Big L provides. International brands, such as Ladbrokes, Queens Hotels and Total Greek Yoghurt have already used the station, as have many smaller regional business – jewellery outlets, flower design chains and gift-card manufacturers to pick just a few recent Big L converts. And those that have already advertised are signing up for new deals because, as one advertiser put it: “the response has been incredible!â€

I love Slade can't say I've heard of Flame before tho.

Slade in Flame is supposed to be the definitive British Rock film according to BBC 4's the Cinema Show. however i dont know how it really really compares to Gonks Go Beat but obv billion times better than Spiceworld
