March 31, 200718 yr Does no-one get the fact that the Eurovision Song Contest ISNT CREDIBLE? :o  http://www.togerland.com/style_emoticons/default/weave.gif Scooch is the best entry we've had in years. Think back to earlier UK Eurovision sucess' ; Bucks Fizz, Katrina and the Waves. The last one, Katrina & The Waves, was 10 years ago, and nowhere near as cheesy and camp as Scooch, and Bucks Fizz was 26 years ago. Eurovision evolves along with music taste - what worked 10+ years ago won't work now -_- Dear me. I think you're all forgetting what the song contest is all about... Dear me. I think you've not noticed what the song contest is all about... When was the last camp/cheesy winner? You have to go back to 1998 (or possibly 1999, depending on how you class Charlotte Nilsson...) to find one, Dana International. The contest is no longer about the sort of "music" that Scooch are peddling, and it's this view in Britain that the contest is unable to evolve whatsoever from what it used to be that will make it virtually impossible for us to ever win again -_- Some naff singer screeching through a bland Westlife sound-alike song would'nt get us to anywhere near a top 10 placing. On the contrary, Cyndi would have stood out amongst this year's candidates. There is only one similar entry to her's this year (Serbia's 'Molitba') and that's not even guaranteed to go to the final, and I'll Leave My Heart is FAR superior to that. Individual track = top ten success. However, our positioning this year sandwiches us between two of the biggest novelty songs this year, Ukraine & Romania, therefore meaning we won't even stand out with our best quality - novelty cheese -_- And if Denmark, the other major novelty song, goes through the semis and is drawn 17th or 21st, we are royally FECKED as it would mean that all 4 novelty songs this year would be grouped together in one big bloc, with us in the middle, therefore ensuring we will not even be remembered -_- THAT is why we would've succeeded with Cyndi. [/rant]
March 31, 200718 yr Well, I can't actually comment a lot on Cyndi's performance or song, because when I heard the intro to the song, I got up and made a cuppa.
March 31, 200718 yr Agreed, Tyron ... the view that Eurovision is about camp cheese is SO outdated, and just plain not true anymore. In the rest of Europe Eurovision is quite credible, and it's because we're convinced of the fact that it's camp (and won't change it and instead just keep insisting it's political) that we continue being c**p.

March 31, 200718 yr Well i bet we get the highest ranking in years with Scooch. Well, we don't have much to beat! From 2003 anyway. But I don't think we'll finish as high as James Fox in 2004 tbh.
April 1, 200718 yr it's because we're convinced of the fact that it's camp (and won't change it and instead just keep insisting it's political) that we continue being c**p. That's pretty much it in a nutshell.... It's like the Father Ted episode, we just seem to do it on purpose, send out utter dreck and keep all the good sh!t at home.... Crazy..... Could you imagine the Olympic coach leaving Linford Christie or Colin Jackson back in the UK and sending out a one-legged, half-blind dwarf to compete against the likes of Carl Lewis, Frankie Fredericks or Michael Johnson....??? Because THAT is pretty much what we're talking about by having Scooch out there instead of Morrissey, Cocker or Goldfrapp.....

(most) other countries send singers who are credible and take the contest seriously for example, malta.... just like we did a few years ago
