June 1, 200718 yr Was on Channel 4 last nite :o The whole thing was just sick! Quite scary aswell. Edited June 1, 200718 yr by JBM
June 1, 200718 yr I thought it was amazing. REALLY scary, the ending wasn't THAT bad... it hasn't disturbed me  I did have trouble going to sleep last night though  I hate it when you just think the womans safe and then everything goes wrong again, it showed you couldn't escape from him. The gore wasn't what made me scared either like usual horror films try to use, it was much more psychological I think and seeing his total lack of respect towards the human life. The bit that made me feel sad was when you saw the girl find a camcorder and all of his victims and there was a little girl on the video. :( :( :( I dunno why but that made me feel sad :( Still a amazing film, definetly one of the scariest I've seen in quite some time.
June 1, 200718 yr Very good film. The guy who played the killer was a creepy as he could possibly be, even though he seemed genuine and friendly at first. That guy's mind though was completley out of it though, and he just seemed so disturbed. The girl's first death was sickening, and then the second girl who went through that cat and mouse game with the guy was awful as well.
June 1, 200718 yr The same thing happens in all of these films though: when they catch the killer, they never finish them off! It's like if it were me, I'd make sure they were dead! Like House Of Wax when they get Bo in the cinema, or the new Texas Chainsaw Massacre when he trips over the fence!
June 1, 200718 yr Yeah, a great horror, the part where he was torchuring the girl and the scene when he chopped off the others girls fingers were horrible. The only bad thing about it was the charachters. I did'nt think they were very likeable, and did'nt really care whether they died or not tbh. :P
June 1, 200718 yr Author I've been waiting ages to watch it! When your watching it it's a really amazing film! It's just after you've watched it thats scary! It took me ages to get to sleep last night
June 1, 200718 yr Author that film was VERY disturbing My dad was watching it to, he hated it (as in thought it was scary and disturbing to), as usually he's one of them people that likes to act big and be like, "Oh no that film didn't scare me one bit" :P

June 2, 200718 yr For me, the mark of a truly great horror film is one that gets under your skin, messes with you head and makes you a bit ill at ease about things for a long time after, "Wolf Creek" absolutely manages all three of those things....
June 2, 200718 yr Brilliant film I never saw it on C4 as have the DVD but am guessing they would have shown an edited version but christ that film is scary, so real like it could really happen to people as opposed to the hook handed killers and men with masks like you see in most horror movies, truly creepy much of the reason being its realism
June 2, 200718 yr Brilliant film I never saw it on C4 as have the DVD but am guessing they would have shown an edited version No way, Channel 4 doesn't do that.... You're thinking of ITV...
June 2, 200718 yr No way, Channel 4 doesn't do that.... You're thinking of ITV... or five's versh of Airplane where they edited out the coke snorting joke (then again it was 5.40 in the evening)
June 4, 200718 yr I bought this film when it first came out on DVD. It starts off from slow but it does getting going alot more in the 2nd half. I felt the film could have been longer..the ending was a bit weak really.
June 4, 200718 yr I bought this film when it first came out on DVD. It starts off from slow but it does getting going alot more in the 2nd half. I felt the film could have been longer..the ending was a bit weak really. People always go on about the supposedly "slow" start... But I dont really buy it... I think it sets itself up really well, introduces us to the characters, actually manages to get us to like them and see them as living, breathing people (almost unheard of in most Horror films because they use stereotypes or archetypal stock characters - the "Jock", the "Nerd", the "$l*t", the "Good Girl", etc...)... In doing this good groundwork, it makes what happens to them all the more horrific because, dammit, they're actually pretty likeable people who just dont deserve what happens to them... in most other Horror fare you're kinda wishing for the annoying teenagers to get offed  , but in "Wolf Creek", you actually relate to the characters and are totally sympathetic to their plight, you actually feel their pain and you identify more with them rather than with the killer (which is how it works in most other horror films - ie, Freddie, Jason, Michael Myers, etc) .... This is a sign of great film-making and very strong writing..... "Wolf Creek" is one of the strongest and most emotionally intense horror film I have ever seen in my life....

The fact that we get to know the characters so well let's us grow to like them. Therefore it's more distressing to see them killed and you fear for them.
June 5, 200718 yr I agree. The fact that we get to know the characters so well let's us grow to like them. Therefore it's more distressing to see them killed and you fear for them. And this is why "Wolf Creek" is NOT an exploitation film as some stupid critics would have you believe... They actually attempt to put "Wolf Creek" into the "Torture Porn" category of films like "Hostel" or "Saw".... That is just plain WRONG in my opinion.... In the "Torture Porn" horrors, the violence is fetishised and the films place you in the position of the killers... In "Wolf Creek" the director firmly places you in the position of the two girls, NOT the killer... The killer in "Wolf Creek" is an evil, sadistic irredeemable piece of red-neck trash.... No way can you identify with him and what he does, and the film does not really invite you to identify with him... "Saw" does invite some identification with Jigsaw, you are expected to buy into his justification for his actions... "Wolf Creek" by comparison does not attempt such a justification, so it does not merit the "Torture Porn" tag... The characters in "Hostel" are such absolute tired cliches and empty cyphers that no identification with them is even possible, you just dont care if they are tortured and killed, in fact, you actually sit there hoping that the torture is as painful and sadistic as possible, "Hostel" really is a sickening piece of cinematic trash, totally worthless IMO.... Again, in "Wolf Creek", because the characters are so believable, well-drawn and most importantly human, the torture of them is unbearable and makes you genuinely upset and fearful for them.... I was honestly almost in tears when Mick severed Liz's spine, it really, really shocked me in a way that very few Horror films actually have - I had an emotional response to what happened to her and to Kristy... This film really upset me, but in a positive way I feel... I felt genuine emotion and genuine empathy for the characters...
June 5, 200718 yr Wold Creek is one of the finest horror movies ever made - it's that good. Tremendous stuff... and the lead actor is gorgeous, too, which helps ;) BUT... Channel 4 cut it... the version shown isn't the one I have on DVD.... the scene where the girl wakes up next to the guy... cut for some strange reason... the scene where the girl falls into the pit of bones.... cut. June 5, 200718 yr BUT... Channel 4 cut it... the version shown isn't the one I have on DVD.... the scene where the girl wakes up next to the guy... cut for some strange reason... the scene where the girl falls into the pit of bones.... cut. Hmmm, I think I know what the problem is actually... The version you have on DVD is likely the "Unrated" or "Extended" version... The version C4 showed is more likely the Cinema version... It really is an incredibly unwelcome trend this is... Cut versions of films playing in the Cinemas and then coming out as "Extended" or "Director's Cut" versions when on DVD just cos the fukkin' Yank distributors have to cut it to avoid an NC-17 rating in the US..... <_< The least these b/astards could do is put the bloody cut scenes BACK again for OUR cinemas....
