Posted March 31, 200718 yr http://www.hollyscoop.com/BlogImages/44988671---jlo.jpg March 30, 2007 Jennifer Lopez has pissed off her peeps. According to the NYDN, J.Lo refused to go the Latin shops to promote her first ever Spanish language album while doing her promo rounds around the country. They are upset because they have been supporting J.Lo since day 1 but no more! Ritmo Latino has banned all J.Lo CDs from its 50 stores. Ritmo President, David Massry, said that J.Lo "has refused personally to promote her new CD in any of our stores" and won't go to stores only devoted to Latin music. "We've supported her from the beginning. Now we're told by her record company she will only visit Anglo retail outlets," Massry said. "This is a Spanish-language CD, and if she wants to discriminate against the Latin community, then we will not sell her product," Massry said. "This is not the first time this has happened. Celebrities have this notion that when they reach a certain level of crossover appeal, they forget quickly where they started," he said. "We will no longer tolerate these situations." In J.Lo’s defense, I don’t think she really knows where she is gonna promote her album since its all done by her record label, but she can still push for the Latin stores rather than stick to what's set up for her. source: www.hollyscoop.com
March 31, 200718 yr Oh, if this is true, then she was being rude... where does she expect the album to be successful if not in Latin shops??
March 31, 200718 yr well she is acting dumb if she is trying to promote her spanish album in anglo stores LOL, I bet she cares more about promoting Que Hiciste in the UK than in Spain and Latin America  :lame:
March 31, 200718 yr She never crossed over from Spanish to English though, which is what the article implies. She always sang in English, this is her first Spanish album. It's still stupid though, she's so desperate for this to make an impression like FO1 did that's why she's promoting so much to Anglo audiences.
March 31, 200718 yr ^^ Exactly. I don't expect it's gonna be a very successful album, tbh. And I really hope it flops.

April 6, 200718 yr The owner of this store is the one who looks bad in this story. It's petty to ban people's music from your store just because they won't promote their album there. Realistically, why would J Lo promote her CD at a chain that only has 50 stores in the country over a chain store that has thousands of stores all over the country? It's not like they don't sell international albums and foreign language music at large chain stores in this country. I always notice a section for that whenever I am in a record store. BTW, I'm a white American girl, and we don't call ourselves "Anglos" or refer to our media outlets that way.
