#01 Anastacia - Anastacia

http://ec1.images-amazon.com/images/P/B0001HKV9M.01._SCLZZZZZZZ_AA240_.jpg

Yes, it really is a huge shock! :o MY #1 ALBUM OF ALL TIME IS ANASTACIA - ANASTACIA! Her 3rd self-titled album, which was a comeback just a year after being diagnosed with breast cancer! Before this album was released, Anastacia was seen as a funky pop diva with a big voice. But with this album, she made a statement. That she wasnt just a pop singer, but someone with lungs of steel, rock-influenced tracks with that hint of soul and pop, which Anastacia has labled as sprock! Starting of with the massive single, Left Outside Alone. She said that the Amy Lee style vocals in the begining was what she sounded like when she tried to sing during the cancer treatment and recovery, and she said she wanted just a hint of that in her song. It became one of her biggest hits to date alongside Im Outta Love. Secondly released is the euro/asian pop influenced Sick and Tired, which wasnt as big as Left Outside Alone, but recieved more airplay then it and was still a massive hit, her 3rd biggest hit in the uk. Thirdly released was the soft Welcome To My Truth and fourthly was the powerballad, Heavy On My Heart. Anastacia said that at the time through her operation she only wrote two songs about Breast Cancer itself, Heavy On My Heart & Where Do I Belong. When released, all profits went into the Anastacia Fund. So why is this my favorite album ever? Because of the emotion that has been put into this album by Anastacia. She wrote and co-produced all the songs on the album, from the rocky Time to the anti-war song I Do [which if released WOULD of gone to #1]

My Personal Highlights On The Album: All of them ^_^

I'm shocked. :o :o :o

Love that Anastacia album  apart from Pretty Lil Dum Dum which i find weird  great countdown
Dude, when I was 15/16 I was listening to Zep, Sabbath, Hendrix, The Doors, Bowie, Deep Purple, etc, and with having no Internet back then it was a LOT more difficult to get into older music..... Age hardly matters in an era when we have Google, download sites and You Tube.....

Spot on.

It probably helped me that music went downhill rapidly in the second half of the 1980s, but that is when I discovered the wonders of the back catalogues of David Bowie, The Beatles(not just the Red or Blue Best of albums), the Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix, Pink Floyd, The Who & Led Zeppelin.

In fact I was part of a group of friends who decided to get into certain retro acts but then we did copies on cassette of the vinyl albums to swap with each other. A great way to learn & share about music.

Mind you it probably helped that Radio 1 DJ's (even if they did inspire Smashie & Nicey) were into the music they played, and Radio 1 played a lot more older & diverse music back in the 1980s, unlike today when the requirement of Radio 1 DJ's seems to be being ex-ladette Children TV presenters or ego maniacal too ugly for TV personalities.

Anyway talking of the original, check out my Top100 Albums of All-Time (in the relevant link below).

I own:

1. Anastacia - Anastacia

5. Pink - Im Not Dead

10. AC/DC - Back In Black

12. Christina Aguilera - Stripped

19. Robbie Williams - Rudebox

20. Pink - Missunderstood

Only Robbie's album made my Top 100.
