June 9, 200718 yr I went again tonight with Andrew we both said how Darius improves each time we see it (he was good to start with) I really enjoyed the whole show. We were both naughty and went and sat in BB instead of upstairs :naughty: Loved it. It was amazing.

June 11, 200718 yr Author Just got back from liverpool. I went fully expecting Shaun williamson to be the star but I felt Darius more than held his own and there was an air of expectancy when he came on stage.. I was quite taken aback by Ds acting ability and stage presence. I actually went Friday night as a last minute booking on my own and then on saturday night also. As a show I enjoyed it but to me Chicago was marginally better but for Darius it was a major step up acting and dancing wise and a bigger part dialogue wise which he carried off amazingly. A few people have commented on his height but my husband said why did they have a girl who was so tiny in the lead!! I thought he carried off the dancing so well and he was on stage a lot more than chicago. and his acting has come on leaps and bounds. and it was so worth the trip and I do think his performance will have surprised and will surprise more people at edinburgh. I also felt that nothing phases him.We didnt stay after the performances as we were staying some way out of the city and husband wanted to get back for a drink.with some friends. Thank you to all for the photos on here. Like Baytree said, I was disappointed that the leads did not take separate bows, it would have been nice to see individual applause.
June 11, 200718 yr Im glad you enjoyed it, I was hoping to meet you on Saturday evening lets hope we get the chance again soon. I preferred Chicago as a musical but loved the fact that Darius was in Guys And Dolls a lot more. where did you stay?
June 12, 200718 yr Author We stayed at the Innkeepers lodge liverpool south which was quite a long bus ride out of the city but was excellent. most of their complexes include an inn separately from the accommodation and this time it was a toby carvery also good.
June 12, 200718 yr thanks, Preston. lovely to read your report. I look forward to any reviews form Edingburgh too. I always feel Darius looks just the right size on stage, others look so small!! I am always commenting on how tiny one person or another looks up on stage, Ben Elton looked like a midget when I saw him recently
June 12, 200718 yr I'm just beginning to catch up on all the stuff here and on Sonnet's. "Finding a place for the c**p game" is not a storyline that excites me at all, although there's great comedy between Nathan and Adelaide. It would have been OK when the film was first shown over here, because there were no legitimate betting shops here in the fifties either I believe. I like some of the songs but for me, the first 15 minutes is quite boring. Chicago had much more happening before Darius's character first appeared and I liked Amos and Roxie right away. I like D's scenes with the gamblers but I much prefer the scenes with Sarah. Is Louise any smaller than Bonnie or Sally Ann, has Darius grown, or is it just because they have to get close and kiss and dance together that the difference is more noticable in Guys and Dolls?
