June 14, 200718 yr I like D's scenes with the gamblers but I much prefer the scenes with Sarah. I just love the scene back in NY after Havana. The acting is fantastic...really believable....the dancing is so smooth/swish. I am so sorry tonight is my last time  ...just wish there was a DVD....then we could all watch to our hearts content....and FW past the boring bits  http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v78/1PamP/Edinburghposter.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v78/1PamP/WedMatPamp.jpg
June 14, 200718 yr Thanks, Pam. It was such a wonderful surprise to see you two last night. I'd been empanelled on a jury and the court had to rise early so I made a mad dash straight from there to Edinburgh and managed to get a single seat in row L. I had a fabulously clear view of the stage. I couldn't believe it when you spoke. I was in a daydream I just wasn't expecting to see anyone far less you two and then seeing Morag later was fantastic. The show was so much slicker than when I'd seen it in Liverpool. Everyone seemed to have upped their game and the audience at the Playhouse were so appreciative. Unlike the Liverpool audience, they seemed to get the more subtle jokes and boy were they loud. Sit Down You're Rocking The Boat nearly rocked the roof off. The only song which I thought fell a bit flat last night was Guys and Dolls. You're right about the return from Havana scene. It's beautifully played, their two voices contrast so well yet blend beautifully when they duet and the dance flows smoothly and fits in perfectly. Nothing jars until the sudden police raid and the magic of the moment crashes to leave deep disappointment and distrust. Last night Darius and Louise got an amazing round of cheers and applause and it was so well-deserved. PS Thanks for getting the photo of the poster. It wasn't up on Monday night and I couldn't take a camera to court yesterday. Edited June 14, 200718 yr by Baytree
June 16, 200718 yr Good to see you too BT. Here's the full Playhouse... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v78/1PamP/Playhouse.jpg
June 17, 200718 yr It was a real surprise seeing it there because there had only been two of the red background text Guys and Dolls posters there on Monday. When I got there on Wednesday, there was a big group of girls taking turns to have their picture taken with the poster. I 'm sorry I didn't think to tell them they might catch Darius at the stage door. They were pretty excited anyway and it was after seven, so he probably would have signed in by then.
June 17, 200718 yr Good to see you too BT. Here's the full Playhouse... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v78/1PamP/Playhouse.jpg That looks great :D It seems ages ago since he was in Liverpool :(
June 19, 200718 yr Last week. It seems to have gone so quickly. Only 7 more chances to see Darius as Sky Masterson and/or in the flesh. He must be so pleased that all the hard work he put out on the choreography has paid off and the show has gone so well for him.
June 19, 200718 yr I was think that before :( even though I wont be seeing him again I love to see the photos and write ups. I hope it isnt so long till he comes back to do something for us.
June 19, 200718 yr You know, I'm not even sure there's been a cast recording of the Michael Grandage production of Guys and Dolls, far less a DVD. I haven't seen one on Amazon etc. BTW I learned something new today - according to the original Damon Runyon story, Sky is supposed to be from Colorado. Edited June 19, 200718 yr by Baytree
June 19, 200718 yr i can't wait i am going to the matinee tomorrow and thursday evening and then sat afternoon . The last time i saw Darius was at culzean is anyone else going tommorrow afternoon would love to meet up before hand
June 19, 200718 yr Michelleh, I sent you a pm on .net Aw. I hope Darius isn't too nervous if Natasha and the boys are there. There was a pic on the image sites the other day of Natasha and Asher(5) at some Disney sponsored event. He's cute.
June 20, 200718 yr Have a great time. We certainly did have. It was wonderful meeting up with Michelleh again after so long and there aren't enough superlatives for Darius's performance as Sky. Word of mouth and the good reviews seem to have had quite an effect. I don't think I've ever seen a matinee so busy. There were a lot of people way up in the gods i.e. the balcony. We saw some people arriving with TV cameras too and we wondered if it was for Scotland Today or Reporting Scotland, both of which we missed today, being in Edinburgh . We'd just met up when we suddenly saw Natasha appear in front of us. One of her sons was with her so I didn't want to butt in and make it obvious who she was. We exchanged a couple of words about her wannabe photographer - the camera was nearly as big as he was. As usual, they were both dressed very simply in casual outfits but class will out. I'd been talking to an elderly couple just beforehand about Lorna Luft who's starring in White Christmas and they said of Natasha" She looks as if she should be somebody." So I told them who she was. I didn't have a ticket and I wanted to be next to Michelleh so we went into the Box Office to see if we could swing it. At first they hummed and hawed because Michelleh's ticket was from ticketmaster but in the end we got seats together. Right next to us at the next counter place was Natasha, then suddenly, grey combats floated into my vision - Darius still in mufti with his hair all curly! Darius in the Box Office caused a bit of a stir but he didn't seem to register it. T'was quite funny to see him checking out the theatre plan to get Natasha and son the best possible seats, because unfortunately all the 'house' seats had already gone, including your favourite row! He was extolling the virtue of row L where I was last Wed night. I'd agree with him........lots of legroom, unrestricted vision and not that far from the stage. He then checked up on other seats that had previously been arranged. I won't say the name but I think I remember it was the surname of one of his grandparents so maybe for his grandfather or uncle. When he'd sorted it all out, he kissed Natasha and disappeared back into the theatre. We didn't see Natasha again because we were seated upstairs.
June 21, 200718 yr Glad you manged to meet up and swop seats. I'm really missing not going. Glad for him that Natasha and the boys are here.
June 21, 200718 yr Thanks again to maria what a wonderful day and the show is absolutely superb Darius is excellent and the whole cast knit so well together love all the songs they have been buzzing around my head ever since .i was def star struck in box office to see natasha and one of her boys and wonderful to see Darius so happy and they certainly look like a wonderful couple.i am daneshed all over again i'll post my pix with Darius tomorrow looking forward to seeing the show again glad i took the decision to go more than once
June 21, 200718 yr Every time I think Darius has reached his very best, he ups his game again. Luck Be A Lady was stunning yesterday. The My Time Of Day/ I've Never Been In Love .......scene got a huge round of applause too. As one of the Liverpool critics said, "The audience loved him." It might be my imagination but in the Havana scene, the dancer in the red dress seemed to hold that kiss where she has Darius bent backwards, for much longer than I remember. There is not one weak member of that cast. Yesterday Neil Clench, who plays the nightclub host, stepped in to play Nicely Nicely. He wasn't quite as great as Christian Patterson but he did a fine job.

June 21, 200718 yr sounds wonderful, and perhaps the dancer is making the most of it before the last show..heaven knows what might happen on the last night! I feel like the only person not to get to see this show! but I am so glad to hear he is doing so well in it,
