April 9, 200718 yr We'll have to keep a look out. I haven't heard that it's reopening in London soon but, I'd be happy if it did - especially if D was in it.
April 9, 200718 yr Jonathon Wilkes was promoting on 'Loose Women' last week the day before he opened at Nottingham in Guys and Dolls. Maybe Darius will be on there promoting Liverpool and Edinburgh when his turn to play Sky comes around!! :D Julie
April 9, 200718 yr What did he sing? He didn't sing, just joked around with the 'girls'!! :D That doesn't mean that D wouldn't sing if he appeared on the show though!! - We can hope... :D Julie
April 10, 200718 yr it would be good wouldn't it! I would love to see darius back on This Morning like he was Chicago era! I would definately go to the West End to see Guys and Dolls if Darius was in it, I just wish Liverpool wasnt so far away!
April 10, 200718 yr I think if they relaunch it in the West End, they will want leads who are prepared to stay with the show for a good long run. I'm just sceptical that Darius would wish to commit himself to being away from Natasha and the boys (and his studio) for any more than 2/3months.
May 2, 200718 yr Preston, are you disappointed that Darius accepted the role of Sky, although it's arguably a lesser part than Nathan's? On the extra features of my DVD someone says that Frank Sinatra desperately wanted to be Sky and also that Dean Martin was offered the part of Nathan but he turned it down because Frank wasn't to be Sky. Sinatra obviously wanted the role of Sky although he appears in less scenes, because that's the romantic lead - an elegant out of towner and a different class of gambler. It wasn't until much later that Sinatra was considered classy whereas Brando always had an aura about him. Edit: I'm replying to a post expressing surprise that Shaun Williamson got the bigger part. I can't find it now. Were there any pictures of Jonathon Wilkes as Sky? Edited May 2, 200718 yr by Baytree
May 2, 200718 yr Author No Baytree I am not disappointed that D accepted the role of Sky, to be quite honest I had thought of him doing this role virtually immediately after seeing him in Chicago, I think probably the fact that he could do the american accent made me think this would be a natural progression. I hope he will give his songs more panazz than Brando did, accepting the fact that Brando was not a singer, was it his voice on the soundtrack or was it dubbed. I do imagine the stage version will have more go in it especially after speaking to someone at chicago who said Guys and dolls was better.
May 2, 200718 yr That was their opinion though, Saltern. I saw both and thought that 'Chicago' was better. If I had to go and see one again, without Darius in any way connected, it would be Chicago. Just editing to say, I enjoye seeing 'Guys and Dolls', I just enjoyed 'Chicago' more. Edited May 2, 200718 yr by megham
May 2, 200718 yr Yes, Preston, it was Brando and all the others doing their own singing although dubbing was pretty common back then. "Brando sings" was one of the promotional "soundbites" for the Guys and Dolls film.
May 3, 200718 yr Author Quote meg - That was their opinion though, Saltern. I saw both and thought that 'Chicago' was better. May 3, 200718 yr That's right. You send your android to the stage door to capture images of Darius, don't you?
May 3, 200718 yr It definately wasn't me, I just wouldn't do that -----I'm almost sure-------unless I sleep walk-------nah, couldn't be me.
May 9, 200718 yr What's on Stage have him down for Aberdeen as well. http://www.whatsonstage.com/index.php?pg=2...ow=L01495319841
