May 9, 200718 yr mind you, I just searched and looked at the tour leg at Southampton, and it has darius listed for that too! I thought Nigel Harmen was doing that leg?
May 9, 200718 yr There's no mention of Aberdeen on the G & D's tour pages, although originally I think there was but without any cast details. I'm almost sure it was supposed to have been immediately after Edinburgh. Maybe with the West End show closing, they've decided to extend the tour and make Aberdeen the first venue for the 2007-2008 tour. You'd think if Darius had agreed to do it, the dates would have been added to his myspace.
May 9, 200718 yr exactly, it would be logical for him to do that leg too, but seeing as he is listed for other venues which I am sure he isnt doing - it is probably wrong
May 9, 200718 yr Nigel Harman has been Sky in Southampton. He's been mentioned in a couple of blogs etc. He finishes on Saturday May 12th. I read somewhere that Nigel says he can't resist revisiting the part whenever they invite him to do it because it's such a great role.
May 9, 200718 yr You don't think Darius has signed up for a full tour starting in Aberdeen, do you? That would definitely shove the album's release back to 2008. Let's hope it's just WOS got it wrong.
May 12, 200718 yr I get the feeling it'll be shoved back anyway. I wonder if he does the West End 'Guy's and Dolls' when it's back in 2008
May 12, 200718 yr Author Hire is a review from someone on WOS who went to the southampton show. I saw it in Southampton yesterday and I think the cast there work really well together. Lynsey Britton is fantastic (but I'm just Bias lol) her and Shaun work really well together they are very funny, I was pleasantly surprised by Shaun he is really funny and probably has the best voice out of all the nathan's I have seen...which isn't saying too much lol but he is brilliant. Nigel was as fantastic as ever he is the best Sky for me just can't beat him, him and Louise are quite sweet together she has a fantastic voice but there voices don't gel aswell as Nigel and Jenna's did, but they were still fantastic together. I'm off there again tomorrow evening for the last show in Southampton really looking foward to it. there are some promotional photos of some of the cast coming to light, Shaun and Darius look as if they fit the characters fine. please could someone post a link. I am not a member of WOS but think a reply to this about the photos would be a good idea but I dont know how to post either the photos or links.
May 12, 200718 yr Not to worry, Preston, I'm also totally incompetant when it comes to posting photos or links!!Do you think we will ever learn?
May 13, 200718 yr From today's paper. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v614/megham/AdforGuysandDollssmall.jpg
May 13, 200718 yr What is this 'Prior to Broadway' bit? But then it also says 'Direct from the West End', so I expect both are to generate publicity without being strictly true. Lovely poster nonetheless, well designed and great photos of both Darius and Shaun! The show is certainly being well publicised, with papers and interviews.....hope it generates excellent ticket sales! Thanks, Meg.
May 13, 200718 yr Author It is true Bramley, guys and dolls is direct from the west end although different stars played the leads at the time it was in the westend just as they are on tour. It was on in the westend at the time that Darius was already starring in chicago. Prior to Broadway I believe means just that, it should be opening on broadway and as Meg says it would be great if D was in it then but it would be a long commitment for him and they usually go for a well known american star although Marti pellow did play Billy flynn in chicago on broadway but I believe not for very long.
May 13, 200718 yr Mmmm, but I still think that 'Direct from the West End' is misleading because the touring company was performing at the same time as the London show was running. So it was two separate companies doing the same show,a totally different cast, dancers, etc, most of whom had never been on stage in London. The touring group did not come direct from the West End, although I suppose it could loosely mean that the SHOW was on there very recently. But on reading that blurb, I would be under the impression that the actual London production complete with the main London cast, apart from the changing lead roles, was on in Edinburgh. I wonder if the two productions are identical, choreography, sets, costume, etc. Has anyone seen both the London show and the touring one ?
May 13, 200718 yr That's one of the things I'm interested in seing. I did read somewhere that the touring version was the same as the 2008 revival - but, I don't think we'll know until we see it.
May 13, 200718 yr Author Guys and dolls tour came to plymouth very recently and Ben richards played Sky (ex holby city and footballers wives). bonnie langford played miss adelaide. The westend production starred nigel harman (ex eastenders) but the cast seemed to rotate a bit like chicago does. Chicago is still on broadway and again various american actors/singers have played billy flynn, of course that is easier for them as the accent is their natural one.
May 14, 200718 yr I did read somewhere that the touring version was the same as the 2008 revival What do you know about the 2008 revival ? Is it to be on the West End again ? I have not heard anything about this.
May 14, 200718 yr I'd read that it's being put back on broadway in 2008 and the touring version was the same as the 2008 Broadway one would be. There are also rumours that it may be back in the Wes End in about a years time.
